Idea So about Archer...

    Archer is the class that I most frequently see criticized for being unbalanced. I personally think archers are fine the way they are, but seeing as this is apparently a hot topic I have some ideas.

    Firstly archer does not need nearly as many arrows as they get. no archer ever uses all 128 arrows unless they miss a lot. Archer could honestly get by with just 32 arrows.

    But an even more radical idea; Archers only get 1 arrow. The arrow regenerates, but only after your last shot hits something (block, player, void, etc), similar to how Ninja can only throw 1 pearl at a time. I think this could help decrease bowspam and help balance out the class a bit better.

    Or maybe I'm crazy, after all I'm not super well versed in how to balance kitPvP games.

    Thoughts?

    I like this. Forces archers to actually use their sword rather than depend on the annoying bowspam knockback damage

    Max total of 1 or 3 arrows that regenerates (1 every 3 seconds?) with instant 1 arrow regeneration after a kill... sounds great to me. If not that, then lowering total arrow count I think also makes sense.

    As an archer main, I also really like this idea. I don't bowspam, but I'm definitely not as careful with my arrows as I should be, and I think at least decreasing the number of arrows archers get would help balance the class without the annoying argument of "remove the instakill!"

    I think that the core issue with archer is how frustrating getting headshotted is. It doesn't matter how much you nerf it - getting headshotted will still be frustrating and feel unfair.

    I'd rather see instakill headshots replaced with something else (e.g 9 hearts of true damage, 3 hearts bleeding effect), and archer being buffed in other areas to make up for it if necessary.

    This is probably one of the best suggestions for an archer update I have seen. I play archer quite often and while headshots are annoying, it is a class that takes some amount of skill. Although, a lot of archers lately I see run back to spawn while under attack and/or bow spam, I feel as though a regenerating arrow, or maybe 1 stack of arrows, would be an intriguing update to TEST out.

    I like these ideas although then it puts archer at a disadvantage to elf's imo, seeing how they can just reflect or dodge it completely, I'd say just have way less arrows tho imo.

    3 arrows that regenerate every second would probably be the way to go, as it prevents bow spam but still allows for concurrent normal shots, even if they aren't full power.

    the misconception of archer's value is heavily based on casual experience. when you have literally 5+ of them shooting at everything they see, then yes, it's going to be hell to work around it. comp does not work like that, and while you could argue that b0s or Bran could farm any given casual archer, no player on this planet is capable of dodging an arrow every quarter second from 5 of them consistently. limits in comp exist for a reason, and the math really isn't that hard to grasp if you start picking out individual classes. soldier and heavy have literally been untouched, and have the highest limits - ninja and medic received a small tweak and are limited slightly more - elf and chem get discussed fairly frequently, with typical limits of 2 - and archer, assassin, mage, engi, and pyro are discussed the most, but are limited to 1.

    the point i'm trying to make here is that casual has 0 grounds to systematically balance classes. you can play whatever you want, whenever you want, which means that chaos is bound to happen very frequently. nerfing a class to fit a meta that's being basically ignored makes no sense; i actually like this idea because it would make relatively 0 impact on comp archers, but could make a bit of a difference in casual.

    People love to say this while also praising archer regulars at the same time. Seems a bit ironic.

    it's because a lot of people don't realize that it's easy to simply play archer or chemist or ninja, but takes skill to become proficient in it. There are archer players, then there are good archer players.

    I think having this change would drastically change how regular players play, but wouldn't really affect the good archer players, just due to how differently both groups of people play
