Well, hes always talked on ts, in game, and on the forums that way. Nothing about him has changed Obama. This is who he is. He's not a forum tryhard. (I totally wasn't a forum tryhard a couple months ago :P)
Applying for mod by changing your attitude so obviously that people who aren't paying attention can notice is. I really shouldn't have to explain why putting up a persona is a bad thing in situations like this.
It's worth mentioning that I posted almost this exact comment before, but he deleted it. It's not entirely relevant to this conversation specifically, but I wanted to mention it anyway. (It's possible my memory is failing me, and I just THOUGHT that I had posted it, but I'm fairly sure I had posted it once before this)
As for not being a forum tryhard, @ChicknSlayr, over half of the threads he's ever posted have been since October 15th, (three posted yesterday alone) and the other half were posted before December 13 2015. I do my research when making these decisions.
There's no easy way to measure activity in replies, but the threads do show that he's recently made a large effort to improve forum activity. Less than a month isn't enough time of that to be qualified for mod.
Plus, extensive use of emotes shows immaturity, in my opinion. This isn't really a universal truth, but it's an opinion and observed trend that many people, including me, share.
The reason he did not post until October 15th is because he was not on brawl at all. During the times that he has been playing brawl, he has been active on the forums.
So is 17 days of activity long enough to be considered a viable option for mod? If I started playing on the server again, after three weeks would I be a good moderator?
You could be. Should someone become a moderator simply because he is active? or should they be denied simply because he is lacking a tiny part of the recomended requirements?
There is a reason they are made a trial Jmod at first and not just a mod. They are promoted to global jmod only after proving that they are very active and fit for the position. Jmods are not meant to be perfect when they are first made jmod. (this sort of explains a lot of false mutes)
I disagree with what you're saying. 17 days of activity after one year of being away is not enough to be reacquainted with the community. A lot has changed since Christmas last year, and if he wasn't there to experience it, he hasn't been active enough recently for mod.
It's also ridiculous to say that not being active is "a tiny part of the recomended requirements," because how are you supposed to be an effective moderator if you aren't even on the server for a long time? Something like teamspeak I understand; I was accepted as a trial mod without being very active on teamspeak. It was my one shortcoming, and I made efforts to improve it.
The difference is that teamspeak activity is very, very different from in-game activity. You can communicate with the community ingame, if not as effectively. You cannot, however, moderate the servers if you are not on them. 17 days isn't enough to be proven active, and so he is not, in my opinion, active enough to be a moderator.
I do agree with your statement. The reason I argued is because I wanted you to expand on what you had said about that. Usually the only way to get somebody to truly explain their meaning is to contradict them in a way that leaves it open for debate. I appreciate that you put so much thought into decisions such as this.
I just realized that you said that English is your "main language" but you can't spell "definitely" correctly.
As if I needed another reason to -1...
EDIT: by you I meant chickenhead, but I didn't want to start a whole new post chain on his profile.
