When my guinea pig does that, all she wants is food. She prefers me not to touch her.

Awwww. That's saddening. My cage is hand built so there's no bars. It's just the bottom, so mask used to be able to get up next to me.

I would hold her more often, but she sheds profoundly. I think that's just a reaction from her dislike of being held.

What breed of guinea pig is it? An american shorthair? a Peruvian? A teddy? An Abyssinian?

Ah. That's an American Shorthair. This isn't very well known (Idk why, but /shrug) but shorthaired guinea pigs actually do shed. Their main shedding periods are during the spring and fall seasons, as they do grow somewhat of a winter coat. Just pet her often and it helps with that.
