3. Every other religion requires hard work and good morals to get into a good afterlife. In Christianity, being good won't get you into Heaven, because, honestly, you're not. No one is. Only by accepting Jesus into your heart can you be saved from Hell. That's it. No other god has come down to Earth and sacrificed themself for humanity.
P.S. Christianity is not like Islam. Do you see dozens of active terrorist organizations that affiliate with Christianity? I don't what religion has to do with there being no cure to cancer.
There is crazy people everywhere. I am quite sure that if you christians had to witness the level of terror many islamists have to now, some kind of militant resistance would rise. Take the irish republican army (IRA) as an example. The group remains classified as terrorist in england.
No. The Islamic terrorists are not fighting against an oppression. They're trying to violently spread their religion. Convert, pay a tax for not being Islamic, or be killed. They've been doing this for thousands of years.
This was excactly what the roman catholics used to do right? It have been quite violent in europe. Even here in finland which was one of the last places the church reached.
The Catholic church has had it's problems throughout history. Rather than focusing on what God wants them to do, many times they have focused on their own personal agendas.
"Rather than focusing on what God wants them to do, many times they have focused on their own personal agenda."
This is literally my BIGGEST problem with religion. Since God isn't real, so no one can truly be guided by him, everyone just uses religion for their own motives and it often gets really really ugly.
By the way Gehenna when I ask a question about who created God, the answer that would satisfy me is not "YOU CAN'T ASK THIS QUESTION". I feel if you're gonna believe in God and you're gonna encourage others to do so, you have a responsibility to have at least some notion of how God came to be.
Also 2. Why don't you believe in evolution?
The science is all laid out. Don't you get taught this stuff in school? I mean firstly, science shouldn't be something that rational people can just choose not to believe. Once it's been proven, or as close to proven as it can get, there's really no reason to doubt it. Secondly, do you actually think the world is 6,000 years old?
3. What did Jesus's sacrifice actually do again? What changed when he died? I'm a bit fuzzy on this. How did he save us?
And you still didn't answer my question. How come you don't believe in the Greek gods or the Hindu gods?
I actually prefer a religion that says if you do good things you get into the afterlife over a religion that says if you praise my imaginary friend, you'll get into the afterlife.
And 4. I'm very glad you believe in this, something we can agree on.
By the way Gehenna who do you support politically? I'm curious if you're the kind of person to support wack jobs from the religious right. Cruz? Trump? Or perhaps something a little saner? Hillary? Bernie even?
1. Same can be said about the big bang. Nobody knows how it happened.
2. There's plenty of arguments against evolution. I'm just not one of those expert creationists. Yes, i believe the Earth is thousands of years old rather than billions.
3. His sacrifice made it easier to get into Heaven. Before then, people had to be very faithful to God and sacrifice animals for their sins. Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice. No more do we have to kill animals for our sins. All you do accept Him into your heart.
1. I don't expect anyone to believe in the Big Bang. I personally "believe" in it because I think it's the most logical and well-supported theory. But it's a theory, I'm open to other points of view.
2. Evolution is scientific fact however. Next time you go to the doctor, you should tell him you're a creationist and he'll give you antibiotics from the 1960s that they used before the bacteria EVOLVED.
Also, what about dinosaur bones?
What about carbon dating, something we just learnt in science? By tracking the amount of Carbon-14 isotope in a dead organism, you can see how old it is, and a lot of things are millions of years old.
I'm a fairly moderate conservative. I voted for Trump, because he closely matches my views. It doesn't mean I agree with everything he believes.
Don't you think bacteria builds an immunity to antibiotics rather than evolves? Do roaches evolve to be resistant to bug spray?
Building a hereditary immunity to things IS EVOLUTION ARE YOU KIDDING ME
Also I can't believe you voted for Trump. You got duped! It's very sad but very funny.
3. I don't think that's the reason why. You believe in Jesus/God over all the other ones because it's what your parents or whoever drummed into you. You never had a chance to think for yourself.
And no fossilization isn't proof, but the Carbon dating is.
