I use to be an atheist when I was much younger. I use to not like going to church. I said to myself that I can't see God, so he must not be real, and everyone around me is delusional. I grew out of that and started to believe in God, but I wasn't close to him. It wasn't until recently that I feel closer to Him.
Younger you was smarter. If you can't detect something or prove its existence in any way, there is NO reason to believe it exists. Everyone else WAS delusional. It's just a shame they got to you.
Since I'm closer to God, I feel a lot more optimistic, happier, and more compassionate.
Before then, I was pessimistic, kind of rude, and didn't care about those around.
I'm not saying that's the atheistic way. That's how I felt. I've seen some kind atheists.
Oh so what you're saying is, the brainwashing made you happier? Yeah that's how a lot of cults work.
I'm perfectly happy thank you very much and I'd much rather be slightly less happy and be free of the oppression of people forcing religion onto me than be completely happy but have my whole world be an elaborate lie.
Not religous at all myself, but bruh "If you can't detect something or prove its existence in any way, there is NO reason to believe it exists."
Used to be like that with many facts, like that the Earth is round etc. Or basically about everything that an early human would think as impossible. Maybe there will come a day to prove God is real. But again, to emphasize, I do believe in natural selection as well.
Catlasshrugged, could you please not be as agressive as you are. You are doing excactly what we critized him of doing - imposing your beliefs on others.
Gehenna knows a lot of stuff, tho you might think he is wrong as i do think, he is learned.
There has always been science. Ever heard of Aristotle, Archimedes, and Socrates?
They were ancient scientists and philosophers. Many of them were religious. Pagans, to be exact.
Aristotle already used "sientific mehtods". Especially in his biology. There is some things going further back that I cant remember but whatever. Thats not modern. Its just that the roman empire destroyed most of it as it became more practical.
And then with the fall of the western rome sientific methods basicly dissapeared from western europe. Sience lived on in eastern europe, creating the high culture of the time.
