The sheer mockery of Jesus is no different today than it was when He was sentenced to die on the cross.
It's quite fascinating how the media is OK with satirizing Christianity but is hesitant with other beliefs.
LMAO the media is OK with satirizing Christianity, but not other beliefs? Dude, Christianity (and other religions) are given SO MUCH BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT compared with other views. Normally if someone goes on TV and talks about their imaginary friend, they'd get pulled off or never asked back on again.
Yet I see a constant parade of religious morons on channels like FOX News and whenever they say random sht about God, no one stops and asks "hey but how do u know he's real?". Most of the time in American society, atheists are vilified and religion isn't allowed to be question in the same way we'd question other beliefs.
Don't give me this BS about Christians being persecuted or whatever point you're trying to make here. Christians are a vast majority of Americans and no one will ever bat an eyelid at Christianity, whereas they might at atheism, Islam, Hinduism, etc.
If you can't stand that maybe some people are making fun of Christ like they make fun of everything else, maybe you're just a special snowflake.
Other than Mormonism and Scientology, I have seen no other religion made fun of on TV or any other media, besides Christianity.
If you make fun of Judaism, you'll get in trouble with the Anti-Defamation League.
If you make fun of Islam, you'll receive death threats from Muslims, and secularists will come after you as well.
I've never seen someone make fun of Buddhism. I bet if they did, they would get in trouble.
With Christianity, nothing happens if you make fun of it. Maybe some Christians will complain, but that's it. Honestly, that's how it should be. We're not suppose to attack anyone who insults Christianity, and that's probably why it gets picked on. No repercussions.
I've seen plenty of people make fun of Judaism or Islam. I don't see what point you're trying to make here. Citation please?
It sounds like you have a victim complex when it comes to Christianity, but I'm not sure why. Newsflash: in America it is far easier to be Christian than any other religion. It is a social norm, it is not questioned or criticised (outside of super liberal/minority areas maybe)
I'm sure you're familiar with Charlie Hebdo. The French satire magazine which was notorious for making fun of Islam. They always received threats from Muslims for their publications. A few years back, they were attacked and a few of their writers killed. They no longer print Prophet Muhammad cartoons. They caved in.
It maybe easier for liberal Christians but not traditional, by-the-book Christians. If you believe homosexuality and abortion is sinful, then you're deemed a homophobe and a sexist in a lot of places.
I think the Charlie Hebdo thing was terrible. People should be allowed to make fun of Islam, just as they should be allowed to make fun of Christianity.
Also, NEWSFLASH: IF YOU THINK HOMOSEXUALITY IS WRONG, YOU ARE A HOMOPHOBE. That's pretty much exactly what the word means.
Also, if you want to whine about people having differing views on abortion, I'd advise you to check the abortion views of the political party that current controls your entire country. Yes, people disagree with you on abortion. Yes, some of those people make poor points. Does it mean Christians are being prosecuted or something? ofc not
Homophobia - Hatred of homosexuals.
Most Christians do not hate gays, as they shouldn't. We just don't like the way they're living. Love the sinner. Hate the sin.
