Yes, that isn't fair, but life isn't always fair. That's not God's fault. That's mankind's fault.
As I've said before, our sinful ways are responsible for the turmoil in life.
I guess it depends on how that kid lived. Does he die really young? If so, he does go to Heaven. Little kids are unaware of their actions. This is where sin does not anchor them to Hell.
How is it mankind's fault? This kid has never heard of God, so it can't be his fault. Is it the Christians' fault, for not reaching this kid? Well, then why blame him? I love how you'd been going on about how just and kind God is, then suddenly when there's a kid about to burn for eternity for no reason you're like "eh, life isn't fair".
I already said how it's humanity's. "Our sinful ways are responsible for the turmoil in life."
How can anyone reach out to him when he's on an uncharted island?
Exactly. No one is able to reach out to him. SO WHY IS HE BEING PUNISHED??
In society, if we just punished people randomly for things they cannot control, you'd call that a fked up legal system. But apparently it's OK when God does it?
Again, you show that lack of understanding the severity of sin. This castaway is no different than any other human. If this world wasn't so diverse in opinion, perhaps he would know Jesus.
Our observation of the law is different from God's, as it should be. We shouldn't be killing people for some or all of the evil acts someone commits.
"severity of the sin"
It's literally completely out of his fking control. How is he supposed to know Jesus if he's never encountered western civilization? And yes, our observation of the law is different, but I'm not worried about what happens to him in this life. This kid would go to hell and burn for eternity, no?
Babies and little child children aren't mentally developed enough to understand the Bible and know what they are doing, unlike older children and adults.
Gehenna if little children aren't mentally developed enough to understand the Bible and know what they're doing, why are many Christian kids taught the Bible from an early age? Sounds like brainwashing...
Gehenna it is brainwashing if they're too young to really know what's going on. That's taking advantage of their mental inadequacies. I've seen a video of a 5-year-old kid who got suspended from school because he kept screaming bible verses at the other students. His parents taught him to preach from a young age.
I know this because he was on Oprah Winfrey's show and she asked him to do some "preaching". He starts screaming bible verses at the audience, about armageddon or hell or something. And then when he's asked to explain what the verse actually means, he can't. He doesn't really understand it. How could he? He's only 5. But that kid is probably gonna be messed up for life because of it.
Whatever approach his parents taught him is not the appropriate way. Hitting people over the head with the Bible (not literally, of course) will drive them away from God rather than closer.
Proselytizing takes patience and gentleness.
Yay, we've got somewhere. I'm really pleased you don't think we should teach kids about stuff like that at a young age. Now, can we expand that statement to "we shouldn't teach them about Satan, Hell and sin at all because it scares the sht out of them and is terrible parenting"?
If you're teaching kids to do the right thing because of Hell and Satan, I don't think you're really raising them to be good people. I think you're raising them to be bad people who pretend at being good people because they're scared. As an atheist I have nothing to be scared of, all the good deeds that I do are my own choices 100%.
There comes a time where you must deflower your kids of their innocence. You must teach them about good and evil. 5 years old isn't the appropriate age.
Gehenna my parents taught me about right and wrong. They never brought up Hell or Satan and never scared the crap out of me. What's so wrong about that?
