this is so ridiculous, I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry
1. Secularism is not a BELIEF or LACK OF BELIEF. Secularism is a political view that religion should be separate from the state/government. You can be a religious secularist.
2. I'm gonna assume you meant "atheists", but even so... what the fk? I'm an atheist, I've talked to many atheists and nearly everyone in my life is atheist or agnostic. I don't know anyone who believes in any of that crap, except for aliens. And the existence of aliens has the backing of science to some extent.
There probably aren't green men in flying saucers like in sci-fi movies, but the existence of extra-terrestrial life is quite likely from a scientific viewpoint.
3. Proof of this? I know some atheists believe in other supernatural crap but they are heavily in the minority. Generally speaking, atheism comes from skepticism.
1 & 2. Dictionary results are basically saying "secular" is the opposite of religious. They don't necessarily have to be atheist.
In my opinion, secularism is neutral. It's not leaning to any particular belief. You simply don't care.
The "little green men" are what I'm referring to. Some people put their faith that they're out there without any evidence, yet they don't believe in God. I believe there is life on other planets, but nothing as or more intelligent than us
3. Buddhism is an atheistic religion. They don't believe in a god, though they do have supernatural beliefs. So, you could add them to the list.
4. Zombies are the bodies of the deceased reanimating after they have passed on. Jesus is no zombie. He returned to His body, like a person being revived after they flat-lined.
5. True, but there are people who believe in demons but probably nothing else.
1. Secularism is not about belief. You can believe anything or nothing and still be a secularist. It's a political view that religion and the state should be kept seperate.
2. LMAO. "some people believe in stuff without evidence, yet they don't believe in God?" Newsflash, Gehenna: there's more than one god people believe in. Hindu gods, African gods, idfk, but there's a ton. And shouldn't we try to get everyone to STOP believing in stuff without evidence - rather than whining about which stupid thing they believe in?
3. Don't know much about Buddhism, so sure.
4. LMAO YOU ARE SO PRECIOUS. You're describing how zombies are impossible but magical human resurrections are totally legit? It's like a Star Wars fan and a Lord of the Rings fan arguing over which is more realistic. To any sane person, they're both obviously fake.
6. It seems like the purpose of your post is to complain that there are people who believe in the supernatural without believing in God... Why do you think they should believe in God over werewolves or ghosts or whatever? It's all fake, so what's the bloody point?
1. I don't know. Secular and nonreligious seem to go hand-in-hand. A secular society seems indifferent. Secularism, to me, is a void, and with voids, they eventually get filled. Better hope it's something docile.
6. The point is there is a God, unlike all the others, who has selflessly reached down to helpless humanity to give them a change to redeem themselves, instead of pompously sitting in His domain looking down at Earth and shaking His head. Come on Zeus, Allah, Odin, Shiva, etc., where is your selfless love, mercy, and grace for humanity? You're going to let Jesus be better than you?
1. Well I mean it's literally the definition... regardless of what you think, that's what secularism is. Secularism isn't a void, it's an active political view that religion and government should be separate.
2. Yes, 90% of the Earth are stupid/misguided in this respect. 90% of the Earth used to think the planet was flat, doesn't make it true.
4. Well yeah, like in hospitals... not magically... if someone took Jesus to a hospital after he was crucified and used actual SCIENTIFIC MEDICINE to try and bring him back to life it would be more plausible.
6. nOT THIS AGAIN. Gehenna, how kind God is doesn't matter. It matters what's true. I could make up a supernatural being who's the nicest person in the world but you still wouldn't believe in them, BECAUSE THERE'S NO EVIDENCE. Believing in God because you think he's nice is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. Why not believe in Santa? He's pretty nice and selfless, he delivers all those presents.
