K, didn't look at your answers though.

Knew the f2k from COD, famas was easy, I guessed colt because I know of colt firearms and that they do make revolvers, and the XM8 was from Ghost Recon.

The M8A1 is the XM8, renamed for CoD.

Good point. Wondered that too when I bought the game and I could not find the XM8, that is until I picked up the M8.

Did a minute of research, in the game files it is actually called the XM8. Still does not explain why a name change was needed :/

Ah found something. The XM8 is an experimental rifle, which probably justifies the X in its name. Since BO2 was set in 2025, it probably was modified and manufactured on a broad scale.

Likely so.
Even then, the G36 and the XM8 have a very similar design structure. Apparently the G36 was made off of the old XM8.
