You aren't supposed to use a hacked client at all. You aren't going to help by reporting a hack that is well known and banned for.
Personally I think this "kid" did the right thing. There are no exceptions for hacking unless you have explicit permission from an administrator to use it for demonstration purposes. (@Mario was allowed to use a hacked client for the purpose of the ride along video, for instance)

If you make a ban appeal that is good enough, you'll be unbanned. Otherwise you'll have to buy an unban.
Basically, if you appeal, make sure that the administrators are aware of the fact that you made a mistake and didn't know, and that you won't do it again.
Be intelligent and meaningful when writing your appeal, of course.
