Perhaps super mods as well? Obviously it would only be filtering out the really bad ones, so I see no reason a super mod couldn't do it.

    Your point ..?
He's perfectly active, so no trouble.
Or, a staff application would only be open to comments after 5 community yes votes(obviously would need a plugin)

Okay so here's the solution. Admins and Smods should only judge applications. Nobody else.

This is the same for me! I'd never talked to Putty before I got mod!

I don't know. This seems a little too drastic. I'm just gonna stay neutral.

When I got mod, Teamspeak wasn't a requirement and I'd only talked to staff in game, never skype or ts. It's changed now, Teamspeak is a requirement. You don't have to have spoken to an admin, but it's good if other members of the community can say that you're not a dick as well as needing the ts3 logins.

I have to agree with this. However, it only affects us older mods. It doesn't at all affect the applicants and the newer mods. I believe TeamSpeak isn't a conclusive way to promote someone. You can act all cool, and then when you get mod, abuse your powers and destroy the servers. By the time you're demoted and banned, the damage has already been done. In response to chickenputty's post, I prefer the last option, which is to let the community decide on the applications which have passed the first round. Yes, this would cause people to raise their hopes, and it would crush them when they get denied (maybe), but that's not too bad compared to the cons of the other options.
