Balancing the Ray Gun

    If you shot directly at the player, I believe the ray would blow up if it hit the player. So as long as you can shoot at them and hit, you should be good...

    Nerfing the rayguns explosion would be good for a few reasons:
    • It would reduce the amount of rage about the raygun being "nooby" and being able to kill people around corners.
    • It makes it more balanced.
    • And it also is more fair on the zombies in infection that just get camped and die millions of times every round.

    Edit to the idea: To make the Ray Gun easier to use if this patch was added, it will explode when hitting a player. That way, as long as you hit a player, you should be able to get a kill.
    I'm not sure whether it should go through players anymore, so here's what I've got.
    Option 1: It doesn't go through players. That would honestly be more useful for many players, since they rely on the Ray's perfect accuracy and high laser velocity. Hitting a player would cause an explosion, but the ray wouldn't go through the player. However, code edits may have to be made, which means a longer time until it is added.
    Option 2: Retain the ability for the ray to pass through players. Because of this, there might have to be a firerate nerf to make up since you can get a high kill count with one shot by shooting at a line of zombies. However, this would be easier, since that's what the Ray Gun originally did.

    I like option #1 for a few reasons. Firstly, it seems a bit op that the ray would get a lot of explosions by shooting through a bunch of zombies. Secondly, if there was a fire-rate nerf, everyone would gripe and complain.

    I disagree because the explosion blast does sometimes help and it hits the player even if the bullet doesnt

    Yeah, preach it man. Infect isn't what it was because of the ray. :V This is still a viable idea.

    I agree, I think ray-gun is to op in infect
    This should be changed, but just a little bit

    I think the ray need to be more balanced.
    In infect its to op,
    You dont need to lower damage but the firerate

    Why not keep the explosion, but nerf the damage?
    E.g 3 shot to kill a zombie

    3 shot to kill a zombie... that would ruin infect and no one else would every buy ray gun again

    That was just an example, so it depends whether your ray gun hits the head or the body.

    I think the ray gun is good enough. It shouldnt be changed. maybe only the speed of the zombies should, but I dont think we can change the ray gun that much, because its still a donator gun and those are ment to be a little bit overpowered
