How to Upload Media for Windows

Option 1: Uploading directly to the forums
Generally, using an external website is better. However, if you want to quickly upload a file, you may do so by manually attaching the file to a post/thread via the Upload a File button.

Note that this doesn't work for movies.

    Option 2: External Sites
    Pictures:
Use an image-hosting site, like imgur.com.
    Select your image file.

If it is a Minecraft screenshot, navigate to your screenshots folder. To do this...
Go to your search bar in a Windows Explorer window.

Type in "%appdata%" without the quotation marks.

Click Enter, and it should take you to the Roaming folder. Open the .minecraft folder, and then the screenshots folder.

The extra files inside are from the MC-War client, search for it in MC-War / Discussion.

Now, you can go to Imgur. Select a screenshot, and drag it onto the Imgur homepage.

Once it uploads, click on the image.
The extra HUD features in this screenshot are from the MC-War client, search for it in MC-War / Discussion.

Now copy the link. It should look similar to this.

When making a forums post/thread, you can attach this image to your thread by using the Image feature. To access this, go to the toolbar.

    Now click the image button.

A popup will appear, like this. Insert the image URL into the box, as shown here.

Click Insert, and you should now have the image in your post.

    Videos:
YouTube is a recommended site for uploading videos. To upload videos to YouTube, read this. After uploading your video, copy the URL.
Go back to the forums toolbar, and click on the Media icon.

Paste the URL of your video into the popup box.

Click Embed, and your video should appear.

    Files:
Files refer to world downloads, schematics, etc. These are for map/build submissions. In addition, files could also refer to resource packs and other such items.
To upload a file, you can attach it using Option 1, which is to directly attach it to your thread/post. However, it is recommended that you use an external website, like Mediafire or Dropbox.
Extra instructions for uploading to Mediafire are here, while instructions for Dropbox are here.
Create an account, and if you already have an account, sign in.
This should bring you directly to your files. Take any file, like you did with the screenshot, and simply drag it onto your files.

Once it finishes uploading, click on the file you uploaded.
Once done, all you need to do is copy the link and paste it in a forum post/thread.

How to upload media for Mac

How to find your minecraft folder
Before you start, you might want to find out how to get to your minecraft folder.
How to find your minecraft folder:
Library > Application Support > minecraft
After that, you can click on your screenshots folder, where you can find screenshots you've taken in-game using F2 (FN+F2 for laptops). To make it easier to find your minecraft folder again, drag it to either your left column or the top bar of your finder window.
Click here if you need more help.
    How to upload images
Imgur is a website used to upload images and gifs. To upload a file, create an account and choose Upload images. You can either choose to upload from your computer, or paste the image link into the "Web" option.
Alternatively, you can drag and drop images or gifs onto the website and it will upload automatically.
After you've done this, copy and paste the URL to link people to the page.

Using Dropbox (Can be easier than imgur)
Download Dropbox, then to take a screenshot, hit Command + 3. Or hit Command + 4 to take a screenshot of a certain area of your screen. Once you take a screenshot, a notification will appear in the top right corner of your screen like this:
Click the notification, and you should be redirected to a page with your image on it. If you want to find the screenshot files on your computer, they can be found in your Dropbox folder that was automatically.
More help on Dropbox can be found here.
    How to upload videos
Click the film icon, and paste the URL of the video you want, then click Embed.

    If you are using Quicktime...
Quicktime is an application all Mac computers come with, and it's very easy to record with. Once you've finished recording, click the export button and select a method to export:
    Uploading other files
To upload other files, like minecraft world saves or resource packs, use Dropbox or Mediafire. To upload to dropbox, see these instructions. To upload to mediafire, drag a file (Make sure it's zipped unless its an image) onto the page, or click the upload button:

On the forums, when linking to media, make it cleaner by linking text to a page, like this. To link text use the "create link" button on the toolbar, then paste the URL of the media.
