It actually has nothing to do with your mood. My mood didn't change two seconds after seeing it white and gold then black and blue. It's based on what your eyes perceive the color as, based on the lighting. Turn your brightness down to the lowest it get be then look at the dress, you might see it differently. It's so funny, on my phone I see gold and white but on my laptop I see black and blue.

 

yeah I think I'm wrong, that's just what people were saying.
After looking further into this, I think that the photo were looking at here is the altered one, the one made to look more like white and gold then blue and black.

 

it's the lighting of the picture and your eyesight, that's what this is completely dependent on. basically, it's a troll.

I wish these kind of debates and observations, that could actually teach people something, were talked about over a qualified color chart instead of a poorly taken picture of a woman's dress. On the other hand, seeing pop-culture trying to understand it and being completely oblivious to the scientific logic of it tends to humor me. XD

By the way, no matter what the white balance is, which is said to effect how the brain interprets the color, still stays black and blue for me.

I swear today I saw blue and black then I saw it on here and saw gold and white and I am soo very done with this

 

Today I have seen Gold and White and Black and blue. It changes depending on whatever the scientific part of this is. So if you come back and check it once in awhile you might realise the colour might of changed from what you previously saw.

to start off, the opposite color of gold is blue and the opposite color of black is white. Now when you invert the colors of the image you'll see gold(blue) and white(black) therefor the colors are blue and black. Bam, debunked.

It's actually blue and black. Sciencey stuff proved it. The photo is actually modified from the top down so the top looks like white and gold, as the bottom looks like black and blue. It all depends on the way you see it first.

 

I'm going to find the person who took this crappy photo, and murder that person. That person can go to hell for causing this frustration.

I actually see it as blue and orange
I did a bit of research, and this phenomena is known as color constancy. Because the dress appears so large in the photo when compared to the background, it's hard to tell what type of light reflects off the dress. So depending on what type of light you perceive to be behind the dress will actually seem to change the color of the dress. For example, the people who see the dress as white/gold actually perceive the dress to be under artificial or very "light" lighting.
I hope this clears up some of this.
