    What are teams?

Teams are groups of CTF players looking to work together to beat other teams, get to know more people in the CTF community, get better at the game, or just have fun with other players.

After my very first team, I decided to create one of my own. I wanted people to be able to find a love for the game just as I had – and who wanted to meet new people and just have an all around great time. With this, my second team, The Classifieds, was created. I worked with other team leaders and met some fantastic people along the way. When the sun set on that team, some time passed before I helped create my current team Genetic.

As a leader, I’ve had to work on handling internal conflicts and it’s helped my confidence in working on tough situations. It’s also helped with my shyness issues, as I’m more willing to talk with new people and jump into new situations. I'm just turning the corner on my second year here on CTF, and I couldn’t be happier.

As I’ve always said, in the end, we are all a bunch of friends, hanging out together, and playing a game we've all grown to love.

~Quarrelt, Leader of Genetic and Former Leader of Classifieds

How do I join a team?

From my own experiencing on joining a team, I would say it was the best thing that ever happened to me for CTF. It's very enjoyable meeting new members and making friends with others, whether it's playing CTF together, building maps, or talking about various subjects. I just hope that other players can take part of the same experience I was given by joining one of the great various teams McPvP has.

    1. Head over the the Team Recruitment Section to find teams willing to take players in. Although not all teams are recruiting, most will be. Some teams may be at a max of 25 players and be unable to recruit more.

    2. If the team is recruiting, find their application process and apply. Each team has their own process of applying (an application to fill out, PMing the team leader or representative, etc) and different requirements to join the team (games played, kills/deaths ratio, captures, class(es) most often played, etc), or no requirements at all. If you’re accepted, the team will tell you what to do from there.

How Do I make a team?

At first, I was bewildered at all the requirements. But as time went on, I enjoyed leading my team and I was amazed at how we became the Walrus Family.

~Starchang, Leader of The Flying Walruses

Before making a team, we strongly recommend first participating in a team to get a feel for the responsibilities and requirements of a team leader/representative. The role requires responsibility and activity, whether it’s in-game, on the forums, or on skype. If you feel you're ready:

    · Contact a Moderator :
In order to make an official team, you must have a moderator approve your team by PMing them on skype or on the forums the following information:

    ·10-25 members

    ·Team name

·Team representative (see roles section for info)

Then, once your team is approved:

    · Post in the CTF Teams section. Be sure to mark your team as [Pending] even though you've been approved.

    · [IMG] Wait for the end of the month, then switch your thread to [Official]. Woo!

    · Request permission to be added into the Team Representative skype chat.

Make sure your forum thread is up to date!

What are the different roles in a team?

    [IMG]Leader

    · [IMG] Not required

    · [IMG] Responsibilities:

    ·[IMG] Make team decisions

    ·[IMG] Create the team thread

    ·[IMG] Handle recruits

Player(s) in the leadership position. Leaders are usually given responsibility to have the final say in what happens to the team, create the team thread, or handle the recruitment process. Responsibilities and leadership structure varies per team.

    [IMG]Representative

    · [IMG] Required (1)

    · [IMG] Responsibilities:

    · [IMG] Be a member of representative Skype chat

    ·[IMG] Plan matches

·[IMG] Handle relations with other teams

A single player chosen to represent the team in the Team Representative skype chat. For this reason, all representatives must have a skype account for ease of communication (please note, you are not required to join calls). All official teams MUST have a representative, as they will be the ones planning matches. The leader and the representative can be the same player, but it is not required.

    [IMG]Member

    · [IMG] Required (10 to 25)

Players making up the team. They can participate in official and unofficial matches. Note: Members may be divided up further per team set-up.

    [IMG]Mercenaries

    · [IMG] Not required

Players able to play in unofficial matches only.

Note: One player, one team. A player (including alternate accounts) cannot be a member on multiple teams. If you wish to be on multiple teams at once, apply to be a mercenary.

How Do I Organize a Match?

Matches are organized primarily by the team representatives. After two or more teams have agreed on maps, players, rules/limits etc., they need to post a match thread under CTF Teams for all members to see. The thread must include a roster for both teams, maps to be played, optional rules, and the match date. This needs to be kept up to date for moderators to update the whitelist with.

Official matches are hosted on T (t.mcctf.com) to prevent players not participating in the match from joining the game. It’s referred to as the T server because it’s used for teams and testing, both of which start with T.

This is just a brief explanation of how to set up a match. The team representative will receive more information on how to set up a match when added to the skype group.

    Code of Conduct

    [IMG]Warning System
The system works via strikes given to teams/players at a moderator’s discretion. Team strikes are given to an entire team, whereas player strikes are given to individual players.

After one strike, a player/team cannot participate in/plan any team matches for a month. After 3 strikes, the player may be banned from joining teams (or a team forced to disband).

    [IMG]Player Disputes
If a player has some sort of problem (whether that be with another player, a team, a rule or regulation, etc.) that cannot be resolved on its own, contact a moderator on skype or PM on the forums, and we’ll look into the issue and hopefully resolve it.

    [IMG]Punishments
Failure to abide by match rules or display good sportsmanship can result in a strike. Depending on the severity and amount of strikes per player, the team may also receive a strike based on moderator’s discretion.

Players in-game or during an official match failing to follow a rule may be sent off for 1-5 minutes depending on the moderator’s discretion. This can escalate to a team strike if more than one player is involved.

If a player is banned from playing within a team, they cannot join another team until their team suspension is over.

Teams constantly failing to abide by rules enforced can be shut down at a moderator’s discretion. The team leader and representative will always be contacted first, and a formal explanation will be made public if this happens.

And that's it! Go join a team and have fun. Was something not covered? Still confused? Feel free to leave questions / comments below!

It is still not known whether this is how everything will work or not, but it does give you some insight on what teams are :grinning:
