As far as MCPvP goes, we tried and failed to implement Teamspeak into our games. Brawl seems much more comfortable with Teamspeak than we do.
Now, for those of you who don't know or haven't realized yet, CTF teams often revolve around Skype. There are official Skype chats. In matches, Skype is used for communications. It is very reliable and easy to set up.
So I'm wondering: will we continue to use Skype as we had before, or will we attempt to make a transition to Teamspeak?

Skype is better for chatting for sure. Also not everyone has Teamspeak.
But when it comes to communitcation I prefer Teamspeak.

I would have to disagree that Skype is "better" for communication, I'll give some reasons why.

Teamspeak is overall easier to use and get your team together.

Teamspeak is a good alternate because you can protect your IP and be safe from any malicious activity.

Brawl moderators will not use Skype to help you, therefore if you run into a issue you could easily contact a moderator if anything is wrong or if someone is breaking rules.

You could also have a temporary channel dedicated to your CTF team easily as long as someone "AFKs" your channel.

If you have any questions about TS, hit me up.

I'm not saying one is better than the other.
No offense, but not everything on the internet is an argument. ^-^

I'm just trying to provoke conversation, for the sake of both addressing problems and for trying to get the "separate" communities to be one in the same.

I'm not saying that one is better than the other either, I just think you CTFers would be better off on Teamspeak.

Sorry if I came off rude.

In my opinion Teamspeak is better because it's alot more simple and you can just scroll down a page to see differant channels. In skype to join a group call you need to be friended to all the people in it. Teamspeak only requires a pass...

Teamspeak in my opinion is better, we already have it set up etc and it would be just easier for us to add new channels. Skype may be more known but it won't kill you to install this.

    Hm...

Skype is of course easier. No need to host a server, no need to join a server, just ring your friends up. Of course, it also is a nice chat software.

But TeamSpeak has that too. The chat isn't as developed there, what with all the little beeps and images and stuff skype has, but the calling function (the main function) is of course better when it comes to usability, and servers are easily set up and used.

I personally prefer TeamSpeak, but I got Skype a few days ago and really enjoy the chat feature. Overall I'd say add TeamSpeak for e. g. match calls, but use Skype to ring up a few friends or to chat.

I do agree, the only real thing that takes teamspeak over skype for me is that my IP is completely secure with Teamspeak.

I use Skype and team speak so I can communicate with everyone, although it may be a bit of a hassle I find it useful.

I agree that skype chats are better to organize everything because you don't need to be online to see the messages, you will get them whenever you log into skype.
However, during matches I believe Teamspeak is better for communication. If you use skype, you will get major problems if the host crashes or has internet problems, on Teamspeak you can rely that the server will stay up. You already have the option to create temporary channels, so you could use that. Another advantages Teamspeak provides is, that there are also staff members around there, so if you run into a problem you can just message one and he can instantly join your channel without the problems of adding him like you would have on skype.

I prefer ts because it is required to be a moderator, also it's easy to configure temporary channels for your teams, and it also enables you to meet and communicate with other players besides your teams, finally staff are constantly occupying our ts server.

Ehh, I highly doubt CTFers, especially those dedicated to their teams, will completely switch to Teamspeak. Maybe some will download it just to have it and use it to talk to Brawlers, but won't really use it to replace our current Skype chat method. And since we have some pretty long casual calls with people that are reluctant to talk, Skype works because they can just type in the chat.
We already have our Casual, Official, and Announcement chats already set up and we're familiar with our systems which work really well especially when it comes to pre-match organization with other team representatives.

Teamspeak can't be used for long time chats anyways, but on Teamspeak you do not need to talk, you can chat there as well.

I can predict that if they didn't use team speak before they won't start now, I'll probably try and use TS when I'm more involved with brawl gamemodes but its kinda scary joining a TS with a bunch of new people.

On the other side you will also get to know totally new people, thats something that never happens on skype.

CTF teams use Skype for more than just voice calls. With the sheer amount of organization and planning that comes into teams, it really pays off to be able to just leave a PM for everyone in the group to see when they get online, which is something you can't do in TS... Casual conversation is the lifeline of the team community, having teamspeak just changes everything. Idc if teamspeak is better for voice chat, and that's because we don't use Skype for voice chat, we use it for PMs. It just so happens to have a handy voice chat service attached to it.

As I said, you don't have to leave your channel. If you leave you could just mute your sound and microphone and still see text messages.

Well, from my personal experiences, I've been added to a lot of chats by some of my friends that also had some people that maybe I haven't talked to yet. Thanks to DAD chat and the gayve ( <3 ), I've started talking to some people that I haven't talked to in a long while or have never talked to to begin with.

So although I agree that TS has a lot of pros, Skype is also a great way to actually meet and talk to new people.
