Introduction​

Welcome back lovely CTFers, It’s been a few days now huh? Things have changed quite a bit and I covered essentially what you need to know in regards of the new servers we are now owned by. This time around, I will be talking less on the what and more on the why and how About this situation. Also, we’ll be covering the recently announced Super Duper Ultra Update Brawl had planned before the acquisition of CTF, Build, and HG

What Is Bacon Brawl?​

Now if you’re a Brawler or a new player in general, you must be wondering what Bacon Brawl is. Bacon Brawl is CTFs news article, as back in the day CTFers hardly checked other sections of the forums. The first news article was called Going Ham, by PolarizedHam, and I took over on the newsletter Bacon Bits since he was unable to post a newsletter anymore. And now, to honor Brawl, I have renamed the newsletter to Bacon Brawl.


For those new people, Bacon Brawl covers CTF related activities mostly as well as major news regarding the servers. Weekly articles include:

• The CTF News Article regarding Official Updates or Plans
• A Community Article Regarding CTFers doing things such as player-made matches.
• Interviews with players by @kevshadowslayer, due to the new staff we are looking into interviewing Brawl Staff!
• Map Reviews, where our reviewer @ShadowLugiaEX reviews two maps in a video to help give feedback to map makers
• Match Overviews, where @Quarrelt writes about one of the weekly team matches and what occurred during it
• Global Articles, which cover anything regarding Brawl as a whole
  
  
  Bye MCPVP, Hello Brawl!​
  
  If you’re reading this then you most likely are aware that MCPVP has ended due to lack of revenue. It’s unfortunate to have this occur, but that doesn’t mean it’s over. Brawl has taken control of HG, Build, and CTF. With this new owner, there are bound to be some differences. For us MCPVPers, these differences are most likely something you need to take note of:
  
• There is a no swearing rule
• Topic placement is stricter
• Moderators cannot ban
• The General Audience is younger
  
  
  Along with these differences, Brawl was actually in the middle of a massive update!
  
  
  
  
  Brawl is currently planning on a huge update to it’s servers which include Pixelmon, Sword Art Online, Legends (Of The League Kind), Call of Duty, DayZ, The Wild West, and Factions. Chaploo has posted all the info about the servers here:

  Besides that, Build is planned on replacing Brawl’s Creative Server, the only downside being Brawls rank system staying in place. Hopefully this won’t affect new people who need WE to make CTF maps.

  CTF Is On The Way​
  
  As of now, CTF is still not released but plans are the release of CTF by next week. For now, we just have a few confirmations from the higher ups at the moment:
  
• We get to keep all of our classes when CTF re-releases
• All of our lovely mods are returning as Trial Mods
• Our ranks return accordingly to Brawls system, if you have VIP you will receive VIP, and MVP is given as Brawls MVP, and PRO is given ELITE (No real difference to MVP, but it has a different color)
• CTF Will be altered in regards of aesthetics, but besides that it’s going to be held as close to the original as possible
  
  
  With this new server change, it’s a bit jarring. It’s alright though, as the Brawl admins are doing their best to help us adjust as smoothly as possible. Even though it may take some getting used to with Build’s new rank system and no-swearing we have to meet in the middle somewhere.
  
  
  Interview With Decelvice!​
  
  How did you come across Minecraft / MCPVP?
  An old friend from my primary school invited me to his house one day, and was playing the xbox version of MC. It was really fun to play as a noob, we spent about an hour trying to figure out how to craft a roof. Anyway, later on I got the PC version because I didn't own an xbox, and discovered multiplayer. A different friend showed me Hunger Games and I got pretty stuck in: but later on I found CTF and started to main that instead.
  
  How did you become a member of The Templars? What was your road in the team system?
  Back when I switched accounts to my current main one, I saw some team threads on the forums and wanted to get involved. I originally went with Blue Bloods (which was Search and Destroy back then), not expecting to make it in, and found myself overjoyed when I did. It was a really great team experience, and I'm glad it was my first. When it split apart, I started playing with a lot of the EU players, many of which happened to be on the Paladins. I thought it was just a clan at first, but when I found out it was a team, I went and applied for it. I became a member and played a lot of team matches with the players that I saw on all the time, and it was a really fulfilling experience. However (no offence to Paladins) I found the team started to become a bit stale after many members left, and I decided to leave myself to find a better team for me. It was a tough decision between 4 teams, but I ended up going with TT's offer and have enjoyed it a lot so far!
  
  Why have you chosen to main chemist? What interests you about the class?
  Originally before I bought classes or credits, I mained medic because of the natural regeneration. However, I saw Pilastermaster playing and was amazed by his skill - I’d tried chemist once or twice on freedays but was never any good at it. I decided to get my head round it and learn to play it properly. I like it because it’s so different to all the other classes: it has a completely different playstyle. (the massive damage output and healthpool doesn’t hurt either!)
  
  What was your road to becoming a CTF Mod, and what is your favorite part about being a mod?
  When I used to main Classic KitPvP, I’d seen a lot of people become moderators and always wanted to be one myself. I ended up applying way too much, it was pretty embarassing. I stopped caring as much and when the January 2015 applications came out, I took it more to see how different the process was rather than want of becoming a trial. Pretty much out of the blue, Crow messaged me in early March to ask if I wanted to become an EU chat moderator. I said yes, went on to ref some matches and the like, and was eventually promoted to mod+ 10 days before MCPVP closed. My favourite part isprobably the ability to spectate / ref matches and have more interaction with the community. You get a nice feeling from being able to help out.
  
  What hobbies do you have outside of gaming?

  What is your opinion with the merge of Brawl?
  I’m quite excited by it. Although some mishaps have occurred, I think this could turn out very well for CTF. I know a lot of people were unhappy with the (lack of) updates at MCPVP, so this is a good opportunity for change.
  
  What are your aspirations outside of MCPVP?
  Hopefully to take up some sort of job in programming one day, it’s been something that’s interested me since I took it up. As for other things, I don’t really know yet - guess I’ll find out as I go along
  
  What do you think MCCTF could most improve on?
  Better linking with the rest of the network and administration team. Although this was more relevant to MCPVP and it is nice to have a seperated community, it can cause trouble sometimes.
  
  Do you think previous CTF Mods should have mod on Brawl? Explain.
  Although I’m obviously biased, I’m all for it. The mods who have spent their time learning and moderating the gamemode, getting to know the community and so much else should have the right to continue doing what they love. Besides, they know the gamemode better than many others.
  
  Where may I find the finest windmills?

  Slack!​
  
  After some input from mods and recommendations from players, Brawl has added their own Slack! Slack is essentially the HRC, where players can join Brawl’s slack to talk to the community as well as instantly alert super moderators about possible hackers!

Sorry, ive been trying to remaster formatting on these forums and its a bit tedious since formatting doesn't stay preformatted when editing. Kinks and errors should be resolved soon when I get more used to these forums.

I'm pretty sure the next edition will be much more hype compared to this one since CTF will actually be around (I hope)

 

It's CTFs newsletter that I used to post before the merge, since most CTFers do not look at other sections this is their form of learning about what's going on from the outside. I usually cover things more extensive in regards to CTF itself but at the moment CTF is currently down, so I've been writing about the many things brawl has going for it.
