Entity Render Range?

    So on MC-CTF servers at least, I've noticed that you can only view entities (players mostly are the important part) up to ~25 blocks, then after that they disappear.
    It makes combat really weird (especially for the sniper-esque classes) and it'd be much better to allow players to have full view of the map.

    And I know this is server side not client side because I set my render distance as high as it can go and the whole map is loaded but players, like I said, stop after ~25 blocks.

    Please extend the range to either 50+ or as far as the client's render distance, please!

    I didn't know this could be server-side thing. I've never really had an issue with render distance and I have it set very low, because my computer sucks.

    It is in fact client sided. Entities don't render past a certain point.

    Are you sure? Is this then something new with 1.8 because I didn't experience before (I haven't played in about a year though)

    I think the render range was actually extended by a couple of chunks when CTF came to brawl. I'm about 95% sure, infact, because I can see people from quite a ways away now compared to before. I think it's fine at this point. =P but that's me!

    Actually this isn't true. I just went on a couple other pvp servers, and I could see players on the other side of the map (and their maps are as big, if not a little bigger than ours) and I looked it up and it is server side too.

    I agree, but sadly this can't be changeable because it's Client-Side. Well at least I think it's Client-Side, because it looks the same for me in all servers.

    It's not, I looked it up and went on other servers that were PvP gamemodes and their maps were as big, if not bigger than these and I could see all the way to the other team's spawn and then here on these maps I can only see like 30 blocks in front of me.

    Sorry for the double post, but I think that there is a limit of 30 blocks coded into Minecraft's Entity class. I will get the Minecraft Coder Pack and have a look at it to be sure.

    Actually, I found that there is a limit of about 64 blocks in 1.8. Maybe this is server-side.

    I changed exactly one line of code and extended it to 100 blocks lol. My first mod! Now to see if it is server-side. I will test this mod out on a server.

    In conclusion, the mod had absolutely no effect on a server but worked fine in single player, so I guess that this is server-side then.

    They don't have any code from net.minecraft but maybe I can find something there.
