In the defense of Chemists.

It's up to interpretation which classes are good and which ones are bad. For the most part, the classes people say are Overpowered are classes they die to a lot (ex, I think assassin is OP because I die to them constantly).

Of course, people die to OP classes a lot. But that's not why they are considered OP. They're OP because nothing can stop them (or a very small portion of classes).

 

What defines "nothing can stop them"? @furtles ? I think Chemists are insanely easy to kill, because I'm good at killing them (And I mean I kill them with multiple classes, not just a lucky assassin hit). Someone else might not be able to kill them, which makes them think Chemists are overpowered. There isn't a single class that's quantifiably better or worse than any of the others. Yes, some classes are better at getting kills than other, and yes, some games see a class/player doing incredibly well, but that isn't because the class is OP, it's because the player is comfortable with the class, and the rest of the server isn't.

 

Chemist: Too deep of a Health Pool for that much firepower. I've been saying for years, split the class into an offensive and defensive class (one class has the buffs and the other has the damage pots).

 

That's a good idea Colonel_Graff. Although it still doesn't really change the health pool. Maybe if you reduced the amount of health pots and split them into 2 different classes that could work?

I don't think your point is accurate. Pyro is stronger than all other classes than medic, and it really doesn't take skill. It takes maybe 10 minutes to get 'comfortable'.

I feel as the reason why people hate chemists is because the few people that play it are really good and proceeds to wreck havoc on the other team.

 

I believe chemist is balanced as far as support goes. The potions it can offer to help teammates are a great way of promoting teamwork as well. Where I see chemist being overpowered is when it's alone. High damage output and a huge healthpool make it an independent class in a team game, which to me shouldn't be a thing.

 

I went to CTF on a whim, and coming from soup pvp I was disappointed by the...forgive me...lack of skill (I mean like it's very easy to steak). Chemist looked like it had the most potential, and could be used skillfully. I personally never thought it was OP, but eventually did notice other people hated it.

I think our complaints should be about assassin, but only in an ideal world. I have come to terms with CTF .

 

Chemist by itself is overpowered in terms of its health pool and damage, but that amount of power does have a place in the game as things stand. By being overpowered, it can counter the other broken and unbalanced parts of CTF, which is useful, albeit a little unfair.

 

Agreeing with what Hana said about chemists "overpoweredness", I believe if the class were to be tweaked others such as pyro would have to be tweaked accordingly.

 

Pyro will have to be changed regardless of is anything changes or not.

Even though it's off topic I think it's something that should be mentioned when talking about Chemist.

Worrying "We'll have to change _____ if we change ____" is pointless, balancing a class will almost always result in the need to balance other classes because of how imbalanced the game is currently.

Chemist is annoying and has become a mainstream class that has become even more popular due to the Ninja nerf. If I were to defend anything I would say it's proof that Instakills, though overpowered, can still be topped by non instakills.
