Idea [Rework] Soldier V2

    Inventory:
    Iron Sword
    4 Steak
    Compass

    Abilities:
    After 15 seconds of wall climb use, slowness I is in affect until a Medic heals you.


    Note: Numbers can be adjusted to whichever gets the desired effect of balancing.

    This does practically nothing to soldier. In fact, it encourages wall spam even more because it slows the soldier on the ground.

    I was thinking that the slowness would help the defenders catch up and recover the flag. I was also thinking that if it was possible to code. To have the iron sword become "heavier" and slower to cast the wall climb.

    I think its better than some 3 seconds of wall climb crap. That will basically ruin soldier. No one will play it. Plus slowness will still happen in midair, and only making up and down the same, but left and right harder. This will help a lot actually.

    And maybe every 15 seconds it stacks? But cap it at slowness 4 I guess.

    Slowness doesn't affect wallspam, and if solders actually ran on the ground we wouldn't have this problem.
    I think you're talking about mining fatigue for making the sword slower. Not sure.

    Yeah you hit the nail on the head, didn't play minecraft for a while now but yeah, I was talking about mining fatigue.

    having it stack is a wonderful idea. Is slowness 4 too much? Like is that dwarf slowness?

    The slowness doesn't affect the soldier at all unless they're on the ground, not even laterally. And because soldier is slows down on the ground they have even more inscentive to wallspam.

    So if it seems that slowness isn't going to work. What about mining fatigue after 10 seconds of use?

    I don't see slowness as a solution. How about a cooldown for however many clicks a soldier does on a wall? For example, using 5 wall climbs will put it on cooldown for 3.5 seconds. (Numbers can be changed for balance)

    I also like the sound of this idea. I'm glad that the community also had enough of the wall spamming soldiers (I am one myself but who isn't?) 5 wall clicks seems like enough to make the soldier conscious of their ability. Is it like 5 clicks in one wall or just 5 clicks stacked together?

    Stacked. I think it would have to be more than 5 clicks because some maps have pretty tall buildings/walls but that means we would have to increase the cooldown time.

    Mining Fatigue does not actually affect combat/swords/blocking at all, it just slows the animation.

    Please clear up how the click thing would work, @ContagiousBubble. Is that a total number of clicks, or just a certain number of clicks over a short period of time, and if the latter, what would the period of time be?

    Like mentioned above, slowness won't do much. Mining fatigue will just make soldier difficult to play. I personally think it is a better idea to have something like an XP bar of wall climb that regenerates while on the ground, as having to be healed by a medic makes it pretty confusing. That would call for teamwork, which CTF is known to often be lacking in. It would also make soldier less of an idependant class, which may not be a good thing =]

    Firstly, mining fatigue doesn't affect how quickly you hit things, only how quickly you break blocks (which, obviously, won't be much of a nerf). Anyways, I agree with what's said above about the slowness. Most people who'd use wall-climb for over 15 seconds wouldn't get affected by the slowness as they'd be mostly wall-climbing whereas people who would get affected by the slowness wouldn't get it as they'd not be wall-climbing much.
