Idea Changes That I Want to Happen

    Over these months more and more people are wanting changes to CTF. Although the majority of them are really bad, some are actually good. But sometimes I still think people wants these changes to benefits themselves, this is the minority. Here are my thoughts on the changes that should change in CTF. This is all my opinion so please feel free to add to these changes that might make it better.

    Overall game:
    -I'm now starting to hate the banners again b/c of the way they work. The wool just goes where ever unlike the banner where it has to be on a solid block OR on a specific part of a non-solid block.
    -The pop-ups still annoy me. I know theres commands but really they should just be in the chat.
    -We need more maps in rotation and some maps to go, that are currently in rotation.

    Instant kills: They shall stay for a couple of classes.

    Classes:
    -We don't need any more classes.
    -Dwarf: The max level it should go is between 10-15
    -Soldier: I hate to say this but I believe it's only fair if the soldier has an XP bar system to control wall climbing abilities.
    -Chemist: Have a cool-down on pots to avoid pot spam. This will only apply for some pots though.
    Also, changing the quantity on some of the pots.
    -Pyro: have true damage instead of instant kills. Also, it should use its own fire instead of using a dwarf's or mage's fire.
    -Necro: It's pretty much useless at this point. If you want to make this class more interesting, have the zombies do more damage or something else to give powers to your mobs.

    A CTF tutorial:
    I have said this so many times but I know this will work. We have many new comers not familiar with this fast paced game. This will not only help them get used to the game but it will help build a stronger CTF community. I don't know how we will make this tutorial but it should be done.

    -Dwarf: I disagree here, dwarf should be the main defending class. Especially since pyro is going to change.
    -Soldier: I agree, xp-bar on climbing is a good idea.
    -Chemist: I disagree here, chemist should stay the dominator on closerange damage. I wasn't satisfied with the xp-bar on pots to begin with, but I think it was enough. Chemist should have weakness again against all kinds of ranged attacks to balance it.
    -Pyro: I made an entire pyro rework which you can read. Pyroblade now does 3,5-4 hearts of true damage, so it stays stronger against heavy-armoured enemies.
    -Necro: I'm still on a rework for it :wink:

    First Off, i suck at ctf and only have tank.
    And if you wan't a tutorial do 1 your self but if there isen't a guide posted (a good one) the next 3 days ill do one.

    And don't worry the classes Will be fixed #soon (i hope)

    Maps - Most of the maps for Wave X have been selected and finalized. The wave should come out after CTF is out of Beta.

    Popups - The command will hopefully be fixed soon, I have to agree with you here.

    Classes - I agree that we don't need anymore.
    Dwarf: I think dwarf should be reworked possibly with abilities, instead of one sword. I just think having dwarf cap at level 15 seems like not an ideal fix.
    Soldier: I agree. Sometimes the spam makes it nearly impossible to recover. Especially since it is really the only class that can 'fly'.
    Chemist: As far as I know, there should be a cool down on pots; it's just bugged right now.
    Pyro: I don't think true damage is a good fix to pyro. I think it needs some unique abilities revolving around fire. I think pyro should be able to use mage and dwarf fire. It's a team game after all.
    Necro: Again, rework would be stellar.

    Imo, the idea of changes that are implemented are meant to not only nerf classes that can be abused to kill/cap/support more efficiently, but to provide a somewhat equal playing field for new comers (thus reducing the need to continue nerfing classes). So the "want" is overruled by the "need." I think Banners shouldn't replace, but rather be dropped, like the previous wool. This would eliminate the course of action where the flag replaces itself based dependently on the ground. Pop-ups are annoying, yes, but slap a player with a warning in their face, instead of having the player look with other means, and more attention is brought towards the flag. I agree with you on doing something about maps, although we will be getting another wave of maps soon ( I believe sometime near September ). Dwarves seem balanced as they are, having Slowness 2, vulnerability before level 5, and having to crouch and wield their sword to charge ( the sword can't block, thus giving assassins the advantage ). I think a tutorial would be difficult unless you use task-ending pop-ups that guide a player to all the introductory commands, such as /class or /switch.

    Just saying I don't think you should do a tutorial as
    • Tank isn't even a class you mean heavy probarly.
    • 4 classes are free (heavy, soldier, archer and medic) so you don't just own heavy.
    So youd wasting time.

    If wool comes back, you will have a lot less issues when carried and/or dropped. mc 1.9 update will fix the bug that makes dropped items on stairs bounce.

    Pop-ups for me, isn't that bad to get used to, unless you are archer.

    Yes, replaying the same maps for the past year or so is getting quite boring. Adding more maps will attract the audience to play even more.

    Chemist needs a rework that make it a "bit" weaker to kill players. (Example: high health pool lowered) Also, to not deal as much damage. (Example: 2 shots a ninja)

    These are just some of my points of view about the gameplay I've experienced.

    *Note* The biggest priority right now is to fix the bugs. Good job for what the mods/coders are doing so far. Keep up the great work.

    ive missed the pop-ups soo much these past few days D: And yes, I have done /flagdisplay subtitle on and /flagdisplay chat on and they dont work. Just tells me that those are on, but nothing shows. Needs to be fixed.

    I agree with most of this post. Ducks and I have had a pretty good system and I think with these updates it would make the entire game more balanced. I'm not entirely sure about the dwarf idea... it is the main defending class and it is pretty balanced. I also agree about pyro only being able to instakill of of his own fire... it would help pyros get more like but at least not troll the players by having a mage buddy. Otherwise, I think pyro should keep instakill except make it an iron axe or something because a diamond axe does quite a lot of damage.

    Elf can't do squat against soldier. Sure, it can chase it for 8 seconds and deal two hearts of damage, but that is nothing for a soldier.

    the only one i agree to is soldier and kindof chemist to only have a cooldown on some pots
