Archers are not exclusively meant to be campers!

Whilst many archers camp at midfield, scoring many kills, they can also fufill other roles which could benefit their team more, potentionally. For example, you could headshot the flag carrier on the other team in order to help recover, or you could help your own team's capper by killing pursuers. Rather than camp in a random spot, you could also assume a more tactical position such as headshotting your team's flag room or entrances to it. Control over the midfield is good, but not at the expense of the other team having an easier time winning!

A personal suggestion from me: as an archer you could also target troublesome engineers. Particularly back in McPvP, engineers were a very dominating prescense due to their supportive role if not dealt with. I've seen many games were stalemates were broken simply because a single engineer set up a teleporter for the other team.

So take my advice if you don't like the mainstream. It's always worth a shot.

This is what many archers do ._.
And it's usually the good ones playing objectively so they are quite effective

Yes they are, if they're killfarming randees.
That is what the non-killfarming regulars try to do. I'm also looking into that.
Oh! Oh! Oh! Wow! Wow! Did you seriously just say that?! Wow! Oh! Wow! Oh you're so wrong! Midfileding is like doing every single role at the same time! You can headshot the enemies going to their flag for offense, headshot enemies going to your flag for defense, headshot the flag carrier for recov, headshot the pursuers for support and more! Why would you EVER think midfielding is useless!
Yes, everything's worth it to see your enemy suffering an arrow to the knee.

I meant when you are at the midfield there are too many options, so don't get distracted by them. Not everybody is @LordCh4os

Shooting the first person you see isn't always the best option though. There may be a more important person to find when midfielding, like the opposition flag bearer who would be more useful to kill than a random heavy who's not close enough to do any damage to your team. The midfield is large, and depending on what part of the midfield you're in you can be doing damage to an enemy offence, defense, flagbearer, recovery squad. I guess my point is, shooting at the first person you see will no doubt help your team, but you could be more useful by prioritising who dies first

The midfield is undoubtedly one of the most, if not the most importantly place for an archer, because of it's sheer versatility. You can do just about anything there, as I explained above. If you can dominate the midfield, it's likely very few of the enemy team will even get to your flagroom, let alone successfully steal. Nevertheless, you should definitely not neglect the other areas of the map. It's important to have dedicated players in offense and defense so that you have a fine balance of both. The midfield is versatile, but unless you have people in offense you can't steal a flag, and if you don't have people in defense you won't stop a steal, and have to rely on recovery instead.

Archer is a good class for getting lots of kills, but equally speaking it's not just for that, and better archers aren't always the ones that get the most kills. I think a lot of newer archers tend to forget that whilst being distracted by their good scores. I have to say a lot of the time archers do forget (me included) that the main aim of the game is to capture the flag, not to kill as many things as possible.
