    lim (x->-2) (x^2-4)/(x+2)
    lim (x->-2) [(x+2)(x-2)]/(x+2) Factor numerator

    Now since you can cancel the 0 that is making it undefined, which is (x+2), take the limit.

    x-2 at x = -2
    The limit is -4.
