I'm pretty sure we had something like this on MCPVP and it was really useful.

I'm kinda tired of people spamming the chat with random non-sense that has nothing to do with the game.

When you would use this command, the chat would be silenced, and only important notes like /md, /h etc. would appear. (possibly, you could only see your friends' messages?)

    just a suggestion kthanks

Seems pretty cool, something that I could see to prove useful is a huge GUI with a collection of things you can silence. Such as MOTD, commands (like /gg, /md, /omw, and such), or certain players. But /ignoreall seems like a good way to approach this.

EDIT: In this thread (which is old so you can't post on it), it shows some feedback. @chickenputty (first time tagging an admin need to an inhaler) stated that you can turn your chat to 'Commands Only', I'm not sure you want to turn off the chat or just turn off the annoying alerts, but I guess that could be a solution. But putty, I have tested this and figured out that once I do this I can still see the chat for some reason? I guess this could link to the fact that the chat is being controlled by Bukkit, I don't know the details but that's what happened to me once.

I remember the McPvp command /ignoreall and I really miss that when certain spammers are on, however I like how some mods use /chatclear sometimes

Would really like this to be added. (I'm tired of the newbs crying and making strats like this is a professional game or something)

I agree the thing is, you can turn chat off whenever you want. However when chat is off you cannot type so having /ignoreall would really help! MY OPINION!
