A lot of people have been talking about how they miss the old maps. So I propose a solution. Every Thursday we play only old maps. This will also give some newer players the chance to play on some amazing older maps that they wouldn't get to play on with out this feature.

Thank you for your time. Sorry about any gramerical errors.

@Spookelia_ how would that stop old maps being fun? I can't speak for all old map (particularly xxxxdead maps) fans, but I don't favour old maps for nostalgia's sake. Old maps felt more... strategic. Games actually last longer and wiping a defense out actually gave more sense of achievement. There was also more teamwork back then because it was needed on maps like waterfall. Todays maps are just so solo and ninja orientated, games last too short and capping gives no feeling of achievement. This is why I'm killwhoring all the time for those who wonder, because objective had become really boring. Don't shoot me, this is just my opinion on it, but I do think if nostalgia really were the trigger for fun on old maps, then complaint about new maps wouldn't have start so early in 2014

Totally agree, when their were less classes , the maps were based to help soldiers, heavy's, medics, and all the classic classes to get around easier and helped many players travel faster. Once ninja and elf came around, in my preference, the maps have been adjusted to help those kits to which I noticed the maps got larger because they travel across the maps faster and its worse for heavy's, medic's, etc. I do think that the old maps should come back not only to remember good times. But for the old classes to have use once again. Throw back Thursday is a good idea to, just hope that it works out to.

I like the idea of a little nostalgia trip, old maps for one day is reasonable enough. Of course, any new player would just assume that they are new maps :stuck_out_tongue:

They don't need a day where bad, unbalanced maps are played, they need to fix the problems with some of the removed maps, especially if they were only very small. Some maps were broken because of an error that'd take no more than an hour to fix.

Not long enough to remember most of the maps which were unplayably broken.

You may have a point with the term broken, but there is no such thing as "unbalance" in CTF. Why? Because the maps are SYMMETRICAL! both teams will enjoy the map advantages. You also claim that most maps were unplayably broken; That is exaggerated, because this week we had some old maps by request and we finished all those games by 3 captures. The gameplay was enjoyable and better than the new maps and this is because all the classes are based on killwhoring! Not objective! All this nerfing will only result in a boring game with weak classes where the "professional gamers" will dominate with their ghostcap, strafing, jitterclicking and so on. I wonder why CTF was more popular 2-3 years ago..?

As for the maps you mentioned:
Castle: defense OP, requires teamwork. Fun in my opinion. Maybe if a free class like archer wasn't so OP, than that would be a major improvement regarding the climb.

Halo: capping wasn't impossible there, I remember me and some others planned group attacks on the flagroom. Mage and elf made it even easier to to assault there.

Unholy faith: I don't remember people headshotting the flagroom there and I played that map a lot. Is it that of a problem that people headshot each other at the middle? Those who want can easily pass by, by going through the ground.

Ghetty gardens: one of the reworks fixed that issue

Lighthouse: an underground flagroom is sooo soldier OP... -.-

Islands & sphinx: flagrooms definetly need a change yes (or nerf archer...).

Moria: I wouldn't call this map soldier OP, the problem with soldier here is the same on any other map. A soldier rework could fix a lot.

Waterfall: nerf soldier (or add a ladder to the top of the tower..)

Starlight: if this is the map with the orb of redstone & lapiz lazulli then granted

woodcastle arena: I never liked this map and I wouldn't really consider it an old map

Shattered rift: I agree that this map does need a change eventho I enjoy it.

Airballoons: ofcourse this map is awful when you want to play objective, but think! This is the map where everyone goes archer! People always ask everyone on this map not to cap, so everyone can enjoy headshotting. Consider this map an arena for archers (just like the map arena where the team with most kills win)

You're misunderstanding how I used "unbalanced". If archer is a lot more powerful than other classes on a map, that map is unbalanced towards archers.

I didn't say that most maps were unplayably broken. I just said that some maps were unplayably broken, and that ROBLOXMAN hasn't been here long enough to remember both of them.

CTF was more popular 2-3 years ago because CTF was only young. Now, CTF has been around for over 4 years and out of the original people who played CTF in the first week of its release (whom I was among), I don't see any of them play any more. Also, people have been more and more annoyed with classes being unbalanced for so long - Pyro has only had 1 nerf and that was when you had to pull back the bow all the way to set people on fire with it.

Castle: You may find teamwork fun, but that doesn't mean everyone does. Just because you specifically like teamwork and think you should require to do it to win, doesn't mean everyone else does. In fact, I really enjoy using teamwork to cap against a really OP defence - one of my favourite games was playing as soldier while @Quarrelt went chemist and helped me cap, and vice versa, on Standoff when there were a lot of OP classes. But the problem is, its not often that people use teamwork.

Halo: The flagroom was quite bad simply because the flag was all the way at the wall. The majority of people didn't use teamwork so you'd usually have to solo cap, which was very tricky against pyros as its hard to dodge them. Archer was a huge problem still.

Unholy Faith: It was possible to flag-headshot, but not a lot of people did it because you got more kills by doing it in mid. You could only go underground in one of the variations of Unholy Faith, and that has since been removed.

Lighthouse: The flagroom wasn't the whole of the map. The huge array of trees and the very tall lighthouse made it soldier OP.

Moria: Soldier is OP when there's lots of tall objects, and there were lots of pillars that soldier could wall-climb up. Its also easiest to escape the flagroom with soldier as you could wall-spam up the walls of the flagroom.

Woodcastle Arena: Its an old map in the sense that its no longer in rotation. I meant removed maps (otherwise Blackout could be considered an old map)

Airballoons: Thing is, CTF isn't supposed to be an arena for archers. The other map where whoever has the most kills wins is only played when mods feel like it.
