I know a lot of posts have been made regarding lag, however I believe something should be done. the amount of lag on freeday is unplayable most of the time, and I got a few clips of stuff happening etc. This wasn't my internet because my ping was as usual and the gamespeed was running at a low percentage.

Next time, don't give out IPads, buy better servers instead.

^ I have more clips if anyone else wants them. Also, I do understand that elf is a generally laggy class, however the same was happening with steak as soldier and pots as chemist.

Agreed, however I'm pretty sure this would already be getting worked on.

Although this is a problem, i don't know how this can really be fixed. Unless more servers are added, this problem really can't improve all that much.

Some simple methods of reducing lag could be to reduce the amount of particles that certain classes give off I.e elf or getting rid of fireworks on fashionista...

You can turn off particles yourself if you really think it'll change lag that much. Also, getting rid of fireworks on fashionista can also be fixed by turning them off in your settings. Keep in mind freeday will always be laggier than regular gameplay. I understand the servers may be laggy, but stuff like that is being worked on constantly as well as the bugs players are complaining about. Changing particles won't fix anything. Your fps and inevitably lower ms can play a part in this lag, too.

That's true, but I meant something that will reduce a large amount lag. Freeday lag is more of a population problem then anything else.

First of all, I have no fps problems. I play at max settings and get around 200-300fps on most CTF maps. Also, the particles cause lag server side. I know they also cause FPS lag, but I'm talking about server lag. I happen to know this as I used to help run a server, and we had this plugin that gave you effects similar to that on brawl. This caused the server to lag.

This also applies to CTF; if you reduce the particles being generated by the server as in not potion particles, and actual plugin particles, this should reduce lag. The only other option is to upgrade the amount of RAM the server has. I mean honestly, I was on SkyWars when only 2 players were left (me and another guy) and the gamespeed was 25%. What is this.

@Xelia_ I personally have nothing against you from posting like this but given you were the moderator who replied, you are the person who I'm obviously debating with.

^ I messed up the format on the for some reason. Sorry, I'm on my phone.

Most of the time, i recognise that the main source of the lag is because of the server population cramped on one server.
Could you actually make the server player limit, make it an actual limit?
For some reason i could still join even though servers were full.
Also, you could lower the player limit per server, like 30 .

Nah, 30 is a bit too low in my opinion. Maybe 40?

People with ranks should be able to join the full games. However, I don't think players without a rank should be kicked if one with a rank joins. Now I have VIP, but its so damn annoying if you join a game and then get kicked again, imagine getting kicked while holding the flag or when about to get a clutch assassin recov.

Normal ranks should not be kicked when a rank joins.
Well, not everyone has a rank, so i guess ranks should be able to join full games.
But if the player limit is at it's limit, normal ranked players should not be able to join.

If you don't want lag, go play on a server network that doesn't host double the amount of servers that they are actually capable of handling.

Particles have nothing to do with the lag issues on CTF. They are nothing to our servers. I have been investigating lag, and we were dealing with heap space issues, which should now be resolved (or at least better) thanks to some work by @ThaRedstoner.

Personally, I wouldn't let lag get in the way of my gameplay.

It absolutely blows my mind how many people within CTF still can't get the difference between FPS and internet/server based lag or think someone's going through the wrong kind.
