2016 CTF Team Tournament!

Sup CTF’ers!

As many of you who were in a CTF Team before we moved to Brawl may remember, we hosted a tournament earlier this year. While I’d like to say it ran perfectly, I’ll admit that there were some issues with the way it was hosted and some of the regulations that were enforced (Airlock and Canadian Fort for every match) could’ve been executed better. SO, you’ll be happy to know that the CTF Committee is going to be hosting a new tournament that’ll be much more efficient than last time!


How’s it going to work?

• This tournament will feature 16 teams battling it out in a single elimination bracket style tournament. The representative of each team will need to get in contact with me via forum PM, skype, or simply replying down below in the replies in order to sign up and secure a spot. We will be going on a first come, first served basis so make sure your representative is active!

• The tournament will be starting on the second weekend of January (the 9th and 10th) and will progress every weekend until February 2nd. We will have preset time slots that teams will be required to be able to make, with EU teams taking priority over the earlier slots in the day. We will be going over this more in detail with the representatives but the times for the matches will be listed in the challonge bracket that I’ve set up for this tournament (Yup, I made one for this tournament as well).

What are the rules going to be for each match?

• There was a lot to keep track of in the last tournament, with varying match sizes meaning different class limits, so the entire tournament will be consistent with the following rules:
  • Each match will be fixed at an 8v8, no exceptions. If a team is missing multiple players, they may be required to forfeit the match.
  • Mandatory match rules will be heavily enforced.
  • There will be class limits of 1 Pyro/Assassin/Medic each.
  • Only one chemist cap will be allowed per map.
  • If you are capping as a ninja, you cannot pearl prematurely before grabbing the flag.

What maps will be played?

• Instead of having every map for every match randomized (which was a really bad call on my part) maps will be handpicked from the CTF Team Committee, and will be played for the duration of that round. For example, when the first round starts we will pick 3 maps that will be played for all 8 matches, we will then pick another three maps for the quarter finals, semi finals, and so on. We haven’t picked the maps quite yet, but we will announce them as we finalize the selections so keep your eyes out!

Will there be prizes?

• Since this is an official event sponsored by Brawl, we've been fortunate enough to get permission to distribute prizes to the top three placing teams. In order for a player on a winning team to qualify for the prizes, they will have needed to be on your team's roster from beginning to end of the tournament and will have needed to play in at least one match. That being said, the prizes are as follows:
  • Grand Prize: 250$ in the brawl shop
  • Second place: 175$ in the brawl shop
  • Third place: 100$ in the brawl shop
• I will contact the leaders/representative of each qualifying team after the tournament to discuss further arrangements regarding the distribution of said prize.
