    Or, they could just not update the server until they're ready for the changes that the extensive update brings, but your idea works just fine as well. I honestly doubt many servers will update for a very long time. It's a lot of work changing almost every single mini game that the servers have. In my opinion, the update won't bring much good for servers besides the command blocks, even though many servers use lots of plug-ins instead.
