New class concepts for update?

    if we are going to have a new class, which I think will happen soon(ish) I wanted to discuss what would we want. Feel free to post your ideas down below. Here are some concepts I came up with

    Fisherman/hydro
    Fishing rod with sharpness 5. Undetermined armor, when in water, player gets strength 2? Immune to fire and getting caught on fire

    Orc/ogre
    Wooden shovel or stick like a club, and have a special ability added?

    Rogue: @obikenobi21's assassin rework idea?

    What do you think, and what would we consider as a new class idea? I would suggest a counter to dwarf of some kind

    you know what makes a good class?

    pulling a random name and weapon out of your ass and saying "add other stuff too". how well thought out and creative, definitely going to be added

    Maybe something called The Gambler

    He has a set pool of buffs, armour, weapons, abilities etc, and whenever he spawns he gets a random set of buffs, weapons etc. Or even, his base form could be something like fashionista, and then he has an item that activates the randomizer that determines his new abilities. This could last until he dies, or for a set period of time. For example, he might use his randomiser, and get

    Full chain armour
    Speed 1
    Iron Sword with sharp 1
    Weakness 1


    This is just an example, and I haven't really tried to balance this. I leave specifics to the creative people, balancing to the smart people, and development to the people who have time. This is just another idea.

    where exactly do you get the idea from we'll get a new class? From what I've heard we'll get a rework of instakill classes, that's all.. can't imagine coders finding time for even more on top O,o

    Novelty classes are fun, but all they do is add to the complexity of the already impossible juggling act of properly networking each and every class, making sure everything has a counter, a role in the game, and is neither under- or over-powered (elf was quite near the lower end of that, while mate right before it was on the upper end).

    Until CTF can ever be almost "fixed," new classes will always either have game-ruining potential, or be just underpowered and without a role (again, look at mage and elf, no offense to mage mains :stuck_out_tongue:). And even when CTF is updated and the majority of the community (heh...) is happy, a new class in the mix of a finally delicately-crafted game could quite well ruin everything again.

    For now, while there are already so many classes with so many abilities in the mix, the only real "role" Any new class could possibly have is to be yet another bandaid fix, which of course is the opposite of what we need. Reworking CTF in its entirety would be much better than any new class.

    Now, about your actual topic: eh, can't really see the roles any of these can serve but to randomkill people. .-.

    No classes will be added because we have too many already. If dwarf, engi, and necro are not a thing anymore, than at that time only can I expect some class ideas to actually work (keeping in mind most of the ideas are just modifications to the classes today) (also most of them are pretty bad).
