Hello everybody and as of lately there has been much commotion on the forums about the way maps get into rotation and all that. However aside from that, I have come up with a new idea for the voting system on maps currently in rotation, as in the voting on maps after you finish with the map.

So, there can be two different ways to vote on maps with this idea. First off, you can still vote in game. The pop-up asking you YES or NO on the map will continue to show up. However these votes will have less weight. This is where the second way to vote comes in. The second way is to vote on the forums, or just being able to vote on the website (worrying about the structure of voting on the website can come later). These votes will have a ton more weight than just voting in-game.

And let's get to explaining why this is a better voting system than the current one.

I'm going to use the map Ship Battle as an example. Most regulars agree that Ship Battle is generally not a good map. However, I remember somewhere on the forums that @wintergreen3 said that randies still vote yes on the map for some reason. Well, all of us who are experienced with the game and have better knowledge will vote on the website which has a lot more weight than the voting in-game. Therefore, maps will get a much more "accurate" votes, because people who don't know that much about the game can still vote, but not be likely to vote on the website, and people who actually understand the map's gameplay can vote with much more weight.

TL;DR 2 voting systems. One on forums and one in game. Forum votes have more weight than the votes in- game.

I don't think that the in game votes should be much less significant. There are plenty of people who play almost every day, but they don't have a forums account. Their vote shouldn't be less than ours. All the votes should be of equal value, but the addition of forums votes is a good idea.

Maybe something like a maps part of the website, when you click on it you can click on CTF, a list of the current maps comes up with past maps under it. On the current ones you can vote yes, no or even add a comment. On the past maps you can add a comment or vote yes/no on it being added back. There could be a leader board of which map is wanted back the most, which map is the favourite, which map is the worst, which map is aesthetically best and which map is gameplaywise best.

Agreed. But there's not much denying the correlation between forumers and in-game regulars, so just as you said, the addition of the forum votes could speak volumes for maps without harming others' opinions.

I think you shouldn't require a forums account when voting for maps on the website. Also, just constantly advertise that website votes have more weight than in-game votes.

    Disagree.

There are plenty of idiots on the forums too. Their opinions shouldn't matter more just because they have a forums account. Point being? An idiot with a forums account is still an idiot.

We're just going to end up with something like Dust2 in CS:GO, where the same map gets played over and over again.

Also, if I'm playing CTF, I'm not going to bother flicking to the forums every game.

Well, it wouldn't work like that. I'm pretty sure the same maps wouldn't be played over and over again because the chance of the maps would still be the same - random.

And it's also be a weekly thing. You only vote once a week by logging on or just simply going to where itd be on the brawl website, it definitely wouldn't be every game.

And @ everyone else I mentioned the option of it just being on the website it doesn't have to be on the forums I'm just throwing out ideas.
