Idea Archer needs a change

    Archers need a rework, everyone knows it. A class that can one shot from 20 blocks away does not belong in CTF and never did. A shot from 20 blocks is nothing skillfull and should not be awarded with an instant kill. Even assassin can get blocked or one shot back. And to make archer even better it has punch, so if you dont get insta-killed you get sent flying 10 blocks, how fun right? There is no reason that the archer class should require such little skill yet be so rewarding. Replace the punch with power and remove the headshot or atleast make the headshot distance skillfull like 50 blocks.

    TLDR: Make the archer class skillfull by giving power and removing the headshot distance.

    What if headshots had to hit your head? More skill imo

    The problem with that would be that running up close to kill an archer can get you one shot by a headshot.

    I disagree with power because you'd be removing the whole point of archer countering things long range and being countered short range. Power effects people at every range equally, and although the archer could be hit since the recharge time on the bow is more significant than a sword, it's still a bad idea. I agree, archer needs to be fixed, there's no doubt about that. The way you're offering to fix it does no good for the class, and breaks down the role archer was originally intended to perform in game.

    I get the feeling you're not a fan of archer, given the tone of your post, which is highly negative. You need to look at this from a neutral perspective rather than your biased one. You can't just nerf a class with a solution like yours until it doesn't even perform the role it was intended to do anymore. It's too good at it's intended role at the minute, but that doesn't mean that it should be nerfed to the point of insanity otherwise. My suggestion would be if you do hate the class, by all means come up with an idea to fix it, but try and give reasons as to why that solution is a good way to fix it.

    Oh and upping the headshot distance will just encourage more camping archers who don't hide and spam arrows to get kills which you deem as "rewarding". Firstly main objective of ctf is funnily enough to capture the flag, and that's one of the things archer doesn't do too well. Secondly, that kind of camping archer doesn't sound too skillfull to me, and you want more of them?

    Headshot is 30 blocks js. I do agree archer needs a change, but removing the instakill in the current game would gut the class way too hard.

    Archer isn't countered that much in meelee because of it's punch II. All that enchantment does is encourage bowspamming.

    agreed, encouraging bowspamming isn't a good idea. There's always benefit in a well timed shot not at full power, but bowspamming for the sake of knockback is fruitless. Thankfully, most of the kids that do bowspam aren't very accurate with it xD

    What if archer snipes did 8 hearts a hit instead of 10 hearts? The ranged instakill is removed, archer can still do a considerable amount of damage and most people will be under 8 hearts anyways, so it can still get a lot of kills.

    I've run into an archer (when I was archer mind you) and all he/she did was spam arrows at close range, instead of using the sword or running away. Do people who do this know that when a bow is hardly pulled back, it literally does zero damage? Imo, archer knockback needs to be removed, I've haven't seen a reason for it as of late.

    I'unno man, I've made enough hail mary shots already.

    Anyways, I like a bleedout system where the person gets hit for 8 hearts, then loses the other 2 over 2 seconds.

    Or perhaps reduces their their health to 80% of whats left and then do damage overtime :grinning:

    to answer you question, no, they don't. Literally the only reason to use the bow over the sword in that situation is because you want to knockback. The knockback has to be changed, I agree it's ridiculous

    I think the 8 hearts is a good idea, but the bleed out mechanic isn't so good.
    Pls no Thorn v2 in MC
    I don't mind archer knock-back at a large distance, but 15~ block it should be disabled to the bows default kb.
