Idea Mage lighting problem and idea

    I have been getting sick and tired of this, it's when a mage using lighting as a kamikaze attack, except the mage doesn't take any form of damage. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one highly annoyed by this, a simple fix to this problem, would to make the mage take damage to their lighting. That way they can't just use it on themselves to get enemies away, or to deal damage. I know the mage doesn't have good armor at all, but using the lighting spell takes no skill, you just use it, you barely need any aim or accuracy on where to direct it. I already know a ton of mages are going to disagree with me regardless of what I say. The lighting itself would still be completely usable and it would still do the same knockback and same damage, it would just make it to where the mage cant cast it directly on his or her self without taking damage or knockback. This was mainly written cause I'm pretty salty and think this would make mage lighting more challenging to use.

    +1 I hate it when I finally get near a mage and bring them to the brink of death and they lightning themselves.

    Plus holy hell it'd be funny seeing mages fling themselves 30 blocks in the air from their own spell.

    Yeah, I was hoping that the same could be done to chemist, Since the do the same exact thing with damage potions, it doesn't do as much knockback, but it's still annoying.

    Tbh the lightning spell is potentially the biggest hitter the mage has, it does true damage, can launch people in the air (**** tonna damage for anyone not elf/soldier or pro medic) or just send people off the map 4 the lulz.
    The problem with this is that the lightning will always be in range to damage itself, as its range is low to begin with and you have to aim for the ground not the player (cuz its glitchy like that and just wont do anything if it hits a player dead on) not to mention lightning doesn't insta-kill assassins when they use their assassinate. So hell to the no. >n>

    Ok, I see what you're saying, but that's just for assassin, and to be honest i understand the range would also hurt the mage as well as knock them back if these changes were to even be implemented, that just means they need to fix it then. It just seems stupid that the mage gets to sit there run and spam lighting (depending on the player,) then have a chance to knock someone off, some mages are easy to kill, because they're trying to do those combos that I hear about, but some sit there and spam the same two spells over and over again, (damage spell, and lighting spell) so with the knockback from the damage spell and from the lighting spell it makes it near impossible to catch them. If they made it to where the lighting's knockback would only work if it hit the player directly, that could also work. I just don't like the fact, that mages can use their own spell on them, and not take any damage or knock back.

    While equal damage is probably a bad idea, some implication from using the lightning spell could be interesting, like knockback. +1 to the concept.

    That's what I was thinking about doing after realizing there was some flaws with the original idea. But I was thinking about adding just a little damage, maybe a heart of damage and some knockback.
