CTF Rotation Mini-Update (07/18/2016)

    Hey there, CTFers!

    We're here with a slight update to the current map rotation. In order to improve gameplay on 3 of the less popular maps added as part of Wave XI, we're replacing them with updated variants. The changes made to these maps were based primarily on responses to the Wave XI Feedback thread, as well as other discussion around the community. So, without further ado, here are the new variants!

    Harvest I
    ID: 345296
    - Increased number of caps required to win to 5.
    - Sealed off flagroom ledge facing towards mid, widened other entrances, removed water pillars.
    - Widened hallways in flag building, simplified pathing.
    - Added sponges near spawn to aid recovery.
    - Removed a number of obstacles at mid, widened and filled in some holes in wooden platforms.
    - Added more lighting, changed time of day slightly, reworked aesthetics to reduce clutter and add depth.

    Orchid Cascades I
    ID: 344355
    - Changed spawn orientation & exit.
    - Added a tunnel from spawn to a point near mid.
    - Opened up the flagroom entrances and flattened the downwards-sloping floor inside.
    - Smoothed out dips in terrain & reduced tall grass to improve PvP experience.
    - Added cover to several parts of the map.
    - Added color indicators to several parts of the map to help navigation.

    Tuscan City I

    - Vastly reduced the size of the map, cutting out most of the original's mid and reterraforming.
    - Redid sponge placement to fit new map size.
    - Replaced river with a smaller stream, redid pathing.
    - Changed spawn orientation.

    I like it, good work to the committee/those involved with the map updates.

    Also, I would like to see what the committee has in mind about the ref rank/handling the problem involving the need for more people w/ perms to setup and ref matches.

    Thank you for fixing some of the more annoying maps in rotation. Now can we fix s**t battle? .-.
    And not have 3 blackouts in rotation.-.

    Love the changes! :grinning: (I really hated getting stuck in the waterfalls in the flagrooms of Harvest)

    Yes, Sheet Battle needs to go or be fixed. But I quite like the different versions of Blackout in rotation. The gameplay between Black/Whiteout is somewhat different, and Blackout X looks cooler imo. :stuck_out_tongue:

    Ok here's what really needs to happen in my opinion:

    Remove the following:
    -Ship Battle (it's the worst map in the game ffs)
    -Beaver Creek + Walrus Creek
    -Whiteout (we don't need 3 versions of Blackout)
    -Castle Wars IV
    -Castle Cavern IV
    -Desert Strike V

    I kinda like the Deserty DS though. :I It'd also be a shame to see whiteout go but it'd be more of a shame to see yet another new map get scratched off the list.

    Remove both of the nonoriginal blackouts. I'm fine with ship battle

    The reason I kind of like Whiteout is almost purely because of the hedge that replaces the iron-bar walls on both sides of mid. It provides a much different gameplay dynamic, in that you don't have to be soldier to cross straight through the inner side of the map.
