He's already backed up his argument against screensharing with logical points, and suggested we think of inconveniencing xrayers instead. Ignoring the invasive part, how would screensharing help stop a majority of hackers? Sure, a couple players using non-noticible stuff like xray can be banned, but everything else is visible and actively stopped.

"If it's so terrible then another, more 'logical' solution should be easy to come by right?"

Not necessarily...The main target of the thread was to catch Xrayers. This whole thread wouldn't exist if the problem was Killaura or Antiknockback, because those are much easier to deal with than Xrayers. Xray is hard to prove to begin with, and that makes good solutions similarly hard to come by. Which is something I mentioned in my reply.

"Clearly not, so it has to be a dang good idea."

    ....

    1: Easy to trick

It's been mentioned before, but those with the slightest bit of know-how when it comes to computers will know how to make it seem as if their .minecraft folders are completely clean of hack clients, even if they are installed.

In fact, I, the divine bringer of love, trinity, compassion, and evasion of stupid screenshare, will teach you how to evade screenshares like I taught you how to evade taxes.

    so...

    Step 1: Locate .minecraft

If you don't know how to do this, how'd you install a hack client??? Like what?

    2: Hiding .minecraft

Before you do this, make a shortcut to .minecraft. I'm not going to explain how to do that, but Google is your friend.

So...it's pretty simple tbh, but once you find .minecraft, right click, and left click "Properties". It should bring up the below window:
    https://gyazo.com/8d561878919d51c6cf912f1d3b31c936
(notice that I had to blur out my full name, you'd know my full name if I hadn't blurred it out)

This is the window that you should see on the screen, if it's not, simply navigate to "General" at the top of the screen.

It should look pretty obvious, but on "Attributes", check "Hidden". Then click "Apply". Then press "OK".

Well if you check back in %appdata%, there won't be a .minecraft folder.

    It's that easy!

But since I am divine in my gracious presence among you PC master race servants, I will teach you how to also create a decoy .minecraft file, FOR I AM GENEROUS IN MY TRINITY AND COMPASSION.

So in the %appdata% directory, make a new folder, then when it prompts you to enter a filename, type ".min℮craft.". IT IS EXTREMELY CRUCIAL THAT YOU INSERT BOTH PERIODS. (directly copy and paste the stuff within the quotes, you'll see why in a second).

You might notice that the "e" is a bit off. THAT'S CAUSE IT IS. That e is a special unicode thingie that I spent all of 3 minutes looking for because you can't use the filename ".minecraft." because that's taken by the original ".minecraft.".

    Anyways, here's the end result:

    https://gyazo.com/8cfb31568a0df13bbe9efeb719ac36f9

Go to your original .minecraft folder.

    https://gyazo.com/61f826cb2d3cc00d1f52337693a547b1

Copy all of that, put that into your new ".minEcraft." folder. Then go to "versions", and erase any hack clients.

And there you freaking go. Thank God for me.

    2: Stigma

If the above wasn't enough for you to get the hint, well....

What of the stigma associated with Brawl if screenshare becomes a thing?

Let me tell you a story.

A man was walking down the road when suddenly another dude with a gun demanded that the man pull down his pants so that the dude with a gun could see the man's underwear. The dude with the gun threatened to shoot the man if he didn't pull down his pants, and said "You have two choices, pull down your pants or I shoot you right in the kisser".

What are you thinking right now about the dude with a gun? You're probably thinking that he's pretty messed up.

Well, full-on spoiler, the dude with the gun IS A MOD FORCING A PLAYER TO SCREENSHARE(pull down the pants *wink wink*). OR GET BANNED IF THEY REFUSE TO (get shot in the kisser).

People will not think highly of Brawl if the staff team goes around forcing players to share their screen.

How much will that cost Brawl? I think a negative stigma that is associated on borderline invasion of privacy will cost Brawl a lot. How about you?

3: Guilty until proven innocent? (you god damn bellends)

Since when is guilty until proven innocent a thing? Why should I, a player that hasn't so much as searched up a client, have to prove my innocence by letting a mod probe through my files at their discretion? The point of a moderator is to find those that are breaking the rules and prove that they are breaking the rules. Not immediately assume that the player in question is breaking the rules and force the player to prove themselves innocent.

Do we tell people that are being accused of a crime to prove themselves innocent? No, we don't. And it should stay that way.

    4: Conclusion

You people that continue to support screenshare protocol haven't answered anything of the negative stigma associated with screensharing. You look only at the immediate benefits screensharing may bring, but believe me, Brawl will be much worse if they're known as the server that "pulls down your pants".

I doubt you read any of that the first time around, and I doubt you'll even take 2 minutes to read even the first part, but in short, no, absence of other ideas does not make the only idea suggested a good idea.

"I'll say it once more too, this is the best idea Brawl has other than letting the hackers roam free as is. I'll also say this again: Stop wasting your time replying to me and actually DO something that doesn't revolve around screen sharing since you think it's a terrible idea."

It's arguable whether this is the "best idea" other than "letting the hackers roam free as is". The reputation Brawl would get for screensharing (ie pulling down your pants and examining your underwear) could potentially impact the server by making it seem less good of a server to be on.

As for wasting my time, you're wasting my time lol. By refusing to even read any of my replies and just regurgitating that "screensharing is the best!11!11!" and "DO SOMETHING", you are wasting the time I spent into making and articulating my arguments.

I really hope you can just stop barfing for a sec and read even the first argument I had towards screensharing. Here, I'll even make your life a bit easier and copy/paste it:

    1: Easy to trick

    ----

And there you go. You haven't even addressed this yet you expect me to believe that screensharing is somehow a "solution". It's not a solution and never will be, unless the stigma associated with invasion of privacy is somehow lifted and that "guilty till proven innocent" becomes an acceptable way to judge someone breaking the rules.

As I saw earlier with the ability to "hide" your .minecraft folder, you still have to rename it and put a capitol letter or something else, making it so easy to see that it's not the original. Nobody except a hacker would take time to change the name of the .minecraft folder.

First off, you don't rename the .minecraft folder. You hide it, then create a folder named ".minecraft", except the e is a unicode letter.

    Anyways, here's the end result:

This is the end result. I challenge you to point out exactly where the "capitol letter" is.

"Nobody except a hacker would take time to change the name of the .minecraft folder."

    .....You're missing the whole point.
A hacker would want to disguise their .minecraft folder and make it into something else to AVOID DETECTION OF HACK CLIENTS IF SCREENSHARE PROTOCOL IS ESTABLISHED. When a hacker's %appdata% folder is checked, the hacker will be instructed to click on the .minecraft decoy folder, rendering the screenshare process absolutely useless. That's why a hacker would take time to change the name of the .minecraft folder, so they don't get caught...

While I'm not going to stoop to the level of name calling that some of the Xray protocol supporters fell to, I must ask whether you actually read any replies that went against your opinion. Because I really don't think you did.
