Alright, I haven't slept yet, it's 6 am, and I am tired. What a good time to brainstorm.

    Disclaimer?

Quick disclaimer/mood setter to give you a general idea before we get onto the main topic:

This thread can be classified as a "group proposition", or idea. As always, feedback is welcomed, and please feel free to edit and add on. This idea/whatever you want to call it will be quite different from the rest of of my previous subject revivals, ideas, etc, and will focus on bringing back a sort of aspect that we had in the past. This main idea is the use of community news letters, which is something I am sure a majority of the community quite enjoyed. The problem was that not many people had the time to set aside to make said news articles based off of the community, hard to find something to write about, and possibly other factors getting in the way. A few of these newsletters would cover matches, although it was usually quite rare, since the newsletters made by players like @PolarizedHam9000 and @Tenshirox (Sorry if I forget to tag anyone/if I use the wrong information, I don't remember a lot of stuff from the past), didn't focus on matches all the time, and more on the community, events, and players.

    The Plan:

Anyhow, to get to the point, my plan is to create a group of players with the ability to record, stream, spectate, commentate, and possibly even interview CTF matches. Matches have always been a big thing in the CTF team scene, and hopefully this will shine more light onto it. With a new spectator command implemented (Moderators now have the power to give spectator to players), this can now be achieved much easier without the constant requirement of bugging @NomNuggetNom for spectator perms. With this said group of players, the plan would be to offer footage of matches (the plan is to cover mainly official matches, since they are usually a bigger focus on interest) and event matches. The team would hopefully interview players pre and post game (this is a possibility, obviously interviews take some well planning ahead of time and teams/players need to consent to actually be interviewed), record, and commentate on matches, in which a writer would give a final overview in a thread under the Match Spotlight banner. Hopefully there could be one big newsletter once a week, posting the results, contents, and well stated overview of official matches that were covered by the group. Ontop of this, it could also post predictions of future matches by analysts (it would be friendly obviously), and maybe giving some backup information. Honestly it all depends on how much support I get from this, who signs up, and overall the input.

    How it will work:

First of all, the plan would be to get some active refs involved with this. It would be ideal for me to ask @b0squet if he would want to be involved with this, since he is definitely a HUGE figure in the CTF teams scene, being one of the most active refs in the community. On top of that, he actively records, and his commentary and input is very good overall. So refs will need to be notified, and hopefully involved with this group if they wish to be.

After that, people with the ability to record will be needed. I myself have the ability to record, but others like @Miskey also have the ability to record. Players that can record and at least be able to slightly edit/space videos well would be needed, in which their recording will be used in the weekly article/reports.

Next, commentators will be needed to assist the people recording. Recorders/commentators can be the same, and obviously more than one person can be recording at a time. It never hurts to have multiple povs. Commentators are pretty self explanatory; They help commentate the game, pointing out mechanics, plays, etc.

Writers will be the next thing, possibly one of the most important roles. It would be ideal for a commentator to do this role, since they would have witnessed the action directly. The job of writers would be to write and devise articles about individual matches, including information, points, scores, highlights, and possibly even interviews, which sets into a possible role of interviewers. We can get more into detail about interviews at a later point though.

On the side some roles like art may be helpful, possibly make signature like openings. Whatever works out honestly. Even roles like analysts could be useful. There are many possible roles, so hopefully nobody who wants to be included will be left out.

You can obviously stack roles, ie a recording player can be a commentator, writer, etc. The goal would be to release a newsletter once a week, compiling multiple articles of different matches, upcoming matches/predictions, and maybe even some news and updated involving the team scene.

    Team Consent:

    IMPORTANT: Before we move on, I need to point out that in order to spectate, the average player needs permission from both teams to be able to spectate. With this mind mind, we will move onto our next point, the Team Consent List. The goal of this is to have a list of teams (hopefully all) that allow the group to spectate/record/use information from the match. With a list of teams, this would make it easier on both spectator and teams, since spectators could just read the list of consenting teams instead of bothering both teams representatives for permission. Still, a spectator will need both teams consent to be able to receive spectator perms. Let us use an example;

Consenting teams to allow the Match Spotlight group to use spectator perms to record, commentate, etc-

    • Team A
    • Team B
    • Team C
So if Team A and B were having a match, the group can look at the list and see that both teams have pre- given consent to allowing spectator perms. Obviously certain teams can blacklist certain players, so if team A hates me for a good reason, I will not allowed to spectate any matches involving team A. The goal is to get all teams on this list, but hey, myself and others understand that maybe not all teams want to be recorded/spectated.

    Overview:

Overall, the goal is to create a newsletter focusing purely on the CTF team scene. If enough support is given, myself or designated leader(s) will make a official forum post, which will include applications, members in the group, consent list, links to youtube channels, and more. I haven't slept all day and it is 6:13 am, so if I have messed something up/something in particular doesn't make sense, or if I just need to explain something, either pm me or ask questions in the comments. Criticism, input, and ideas are always welcome here. This thread is simply a proposition to see the general opinion on a group for the purpose of reporting on matches and scout for players and figures who want to be involved in the group if it does occur.

I feel like we need professional, e-sports style casters. I could do it, but I have never been affiliated with any teams and don't have as much experience with CTF.

One of the best ideas I have seen regarding CTF teams. I'll finally get some good internet on friday, so if you guys are in favour of it I could stream/record the matches in high quality. I hope to see this idea go ahead, as it will obviously provide great coverage of the matches aspect of CTF and should increase the size of the CTF (Match?) community.

It isn't too hard to get into. As I explained in the thread (hopefully I said this, not sure, haven't slept yet), the plan is to make room for anyone interested. Myself and others can show you/explain/help you get experience by explaining to you, providing resources, and spectating matches as well can be pretty helpful.

I think this is a really good idea, because if players aren't really involved in a team it still gives them a chance to interact. I'll probably apply because it also sounds really fun.

I think this is a cool idea, I also think someone should start another newsletter which is fortnightly/monthly.

Similar to the old ctf stream team idea, but with some write ups. Personally I'm probably going to continue streaming with Austin, but I can probably do a write up of some of the matches we spec.

This is a great idea dude ;p although I believe there should be some certain requirements to join the team :stuck_out_tongue: Make sure the people trust you and allow you to commentate etc another thing is you should right an app to a ctf team committee, and you could be like a student and learn under a mod or different mods could take a few experienced people who do this and teach some stuff on how to do this to a group of new peeps :3 Anyways other than that this should really be done :stuck_out_tongue:

I'd bring this to the media team. But I'm reading is that, you want some people to record ctf matches and commentate.

If brawl receive enough funds, we can totally initiate, a full official tournament with a prizepool
