Hi CTF community I finally got forums account. Ive played CTF on and off for several years a little on mcpvp and some on brawl. I have a question for the CTF community and brawl community about they're player.

Some of u may not know or know but I am mostly deaf and i wanted to know if there were any other deafies here.

I had my friend @SendCoffee help me put a video together and he transliterated my question into asl which u can watch here:

Hello Brawl Community! Hello CTF Community!

My name is Evan (IGN: SendCoffee).
So why am I making this video today? Well there are a couple of reasons, first I wanted to make this video for my good friend Satellite. He plays on the brawl gaming network.
The second reason why is that he wanted me to tell hearing gaming culture about deaf gaming culture. So he has a question for all of you. Satellite wants to know if there are players in the brawl community or CTF community either in the past or right now.
He is deaf and has been playing CTF on brawl for about a year and CTF completely for 2 1/2 years.

    Write your comments below!

    Thanks!

So I turned my volume up because I couldn't hear anything, and then I realized there wasn't any sound... Man I'm dumb.

I didn't know you're deaf. My family has some genetics thing and I'll lose (most, if not all) my hearing at a young(er than most) age.

Oh hey! There was a player a while ago that was going to apply for party, so I started working with her to get her ready. The problem was, she was deaf and we were really strict on teamspeak being a mandatory thing back then, so she didn't stand a chance, but let's see if I can find her name again...

Ok found them. @EchoBlitz477 was their name.

I'm partly deaf, when I was very younger I had a feberal convulsion (a fit) and I've had quite bad scaring in my ears since (I also had hearing problems prior in general). But since I can still partly hear I haven't learnt any sign language. When I was younger my mum took lessons in baby sign language but I guess it was just natural to me then since I couldnt hear anything. I'm sure there are many gamers who are deaf too and it's inspiring to see people tell their own story.

I have a hard time hearing anything from 18kHz and up. Speech isn't as clear as it could be, as essentially the "ssss" syllable is almost indistinguishable, but if you're good you can hear it. sort of. Word of advice for you people, pace yourself on loud music, I miss that part of the frequency spectrum, as all the harmonics and what not are based in that part. This makes music with a tonne of harmonics sound bland af.

I have the same problem with my friends.
But it's really weird, because on normal occasions i can talk to them just fine, but when I talk to them about the money they owe me, they suddenly turn deaf.

Yea, I used to beable to hear it though. I can't hear anything up there anymore. Also should mention that I tested it with a function generator set to Sine, and also trying a Triangle wave. Square waves have too many other resonant frequencies that are audible rather than the 1 particular frequency.
