I know, I know, you shouldn't archive maps unless you're absolutely sure you want to get rid of them. That being said, sometimes people do archive maps they want and regret it afterwards. Unarchiving maps is possible, but a developer has to manually do it. If its easy enough to make this an automatic process, it'd be nice to see this added.

This could also allow /archive be used in the fashion that I think it was originally intended to use - archive maps when you're done with them. This means players won't just join the server, build on one map, finish that world then never play again.

    For the update:
    • Add /unarchive, self-explanatory.
    • Make archived maps appear in your map list.
    • Add /delete, which deletes the map entirely and irreversibly.

+1, checking if we have the dev time for it first

I am not quite sure. The command even asks you to do it twice. I usually archive empty or filled with junk maps. I haven't yet regretted archiving any of those.

I see the problem though with numerous people. This neither wouldn't be a bad nor great idea because I see an issue with this one. What if a normal player, who is allowed to have one map only, unarchives a map he previously archived? He would now have two maps giving him an unfair advantage over other players.

We could easily solve this issue by making the player be unable to unarchive his map when their maps exceed the number of possible maps in each of the ranks. They will have to replace (archive their current map and unarchive another older one) one of their maps with the one they unarchive.

Other than that, I have no other issues with this one. +1.

"You have the maximum amount of maps! Please archive an existing map to unarchive this one."

Also, I've came up with more reasoning to add this other than just to help people who regrettably archive maps. Editing the post.

Just realised that there is another issue with this. Players won't have a reason to buy more maps just because of the fact that the commands could be abused.

Anyone could simply archive their current map, build a new one, archive, repeat. And everytime they unarchive they can resume building on that world. Let me explain better:

    • Let's say you have just made your very first map. You stop building on it. You archive it. You make a new one. You build on that. You stop. You archive it. Then you unarchive the older one. You build on it. You stop and archive. You unarchive the other one. You build on that. And that goes on and on and on even with multiple maps.

You probably get my point. This is a way this command could possibly be abused, quite simply and easily in my opinion. In this way you could technically have and build infinite "maps" and this can do the opposite of promoting players into buying maps.

Having a cooldown of being able to archive and unarchive maps would fix this.

I still see it as abusable.

Not if the cooldown is a very long time. Like, about a month. This way, it'll be incredibly inconvinient to abuse this.

    Already exists

We'd make it builder+ to avoid these problems.

Making a thread soonTM (staggering to avoid spam) about a trusted rank, where people could have more perms, less restrictions on WE, .etc. Hopefully you get the picture. If this trusted rank gained access to /unarchive, this would be nice imo.

If that happened I would be glad to apply for it. And I am pretty sure that Rhoskey wouldn't mind accepting me.

How is this abusable? /unachievable would not wipe your map back to square one. You'd still have the same build and same "lack of room" or "junk builds" that caused you to /archive it in the first place. It wouldn't be like getting a new map. It's basically the same as just switching maps for a normal person, except they can still only have one map active at the same time.

Look, you seem to have not understood me. Anyone could archive not just for disliking their own map but gain advantage and work on another one while this one technically exists and be unarchived because it was archived and not deleted. He can easily archive his current map and unarchive his older one just to work on it. You can simply switch between infinite maps by simply using the "Archive - Unarchive Technique" (ye I named it like that).

    Not with this:
Probably a way to let mods unarchive people's maps for them so they can ensure players do not abuse it, too, but that'd require more dev time that we're probably unable to get atm.

But why is that unfair? He still only has one map to work on and there was a specific reason he archived the map. That reason won't disappear. Maybe he archived it because he had no more room. You see what I mean?

The archived maps will still be normal maps. You can have infinite archived maps no matter what was the reason you archived them. The command will be used in the same way the pop-up map GUI is used but in this case you would just have to use the "Archive - Unarchive Technique" you can switch between infinite maps whenever you want.

@SoCool21, what most people don't realize is the a dev. can expand maps too. /radius [radius]
"/radius" can be used by anyone to find out the map size.
"/radius [radius]" can expand the map, but can not be used by regular players (or jmods I think).
