    Macron - 65%

    Le Pen - 35%

    10% of ballots were empty

Lowest voter turnout in a long time.

    Europe is saved!

Just like in America with Clinton and Trump, they were probably the most hated candidates in French history. Idk. Just a hunch.
It's interesting how the far-leftists would've preferred Le Pen over Macron. Le Pen is far-right. Macron is centre to centre-left They've called him an economic extremist.

Thats is only interesting because the terms are rather confusing. When you understand what we use them for there is nothing special there.

Well. Time for France to, as Macron put it:

"Accept that terrorism is a fact of life".

At least the vote was democratic, despite the media blaming everything ever on Russian hackers.

Really? He said that? I hope I'm taking it out of context. It can easily be. I hope he'll put some effort into stopping terrorism.

Russia again taking the heat for influencing presidential elections when literally anyone could have done it and framed Russia.

Another thing, France has really been the punching bag for Jihad lately.

    Why would Russia do it?

    1. They are interested in weakening Europe and becoming a global superpower.

    2. In order to do that, they would need Le Pen - who is being paid by Russia - to win the election.

    3. They repeated the same tactic used against Clinton - but the emails were released too late to do anything

    4. Why the hell would Russia need strong NATO or EU? Of course they don't.

What other country would be interested in putting a Pro-Russian and anti-EU far right populist in power?

I'd prefer if there was context to your claim.

There was a Russian group who hacked the U.S. elections?

    Blaahhhhhhh

Yes, as noted by all that Russian aggression. Did you know Russia has no troops on the border of any European state? Or planes, or tanks? But do you know who does have troops, tanks, and planes on the Russian border? The U.S. and their European (and completely unnecessary) sockpuppet NATO.

Clearly the Russians are the ones interested in world domination. Not the U.S. Surely not the U.S. It's not like we've overthrown or helped to overthrow dozens of democratic or populist governments in Europe (in the forties we replaced a moderate Greek regime with a neo-nazi regime all while fighting against the Nazis. Charming)

A few things here: 1) no one knows who leaked the emails but Wikileaks said it was not the Russians (i.e. suggested it was Seth Rich, a DNC staffer who was murdered shortly after the leak), 2) if Clinton wasn't the sh*tty Candidate From Hell that she so obviously was then there'd be nothing to leak (i.e., none of her endless praises for Goldman Sachs and the banking industry, nor her suggestion that the financial industry should regulate itself, or that massive tax cut she supported for repatriated corporate funds), and 3) Are you seriously suggesting that accurate information about a candidate should not be released to the public because it might damage that candidate's chances of winning? Or are you suggesting that said information was false and that the thousands of pages of John Podesta's emails, with timestamps and everything, were written by the Russians?

I'd love to hear that one.

Yes because NATO, the EU, and U.S. imperialism are trying to force Russia back into the oversized Goodwill that they were when Yeltsin was president.

While she is hyper-authoritarian, LePen is not far-right.

If anyone's far right it's Emmanuel "former Rothschild banker" Macron. He wants to cut taxes, cut social services, and keep France in the EU. No wonder the stock market exploded into cheers after his election. He's the bankers boy.

Good article on how the U.S., not Russia, has spent the last 70+ years keeping the world safe from democracy: https://williamblum.org/aer/read/149 the author, mind you, is a former member of the U.S. state department back in the 60's. He knows what he's talking about.

In case you don't believe me, here is an excerpt from said article:

    Screen Shot 2017-05-08 at 2.34.03 PM.png

How touching that the U.S. is concerned about "Russian hacking" as the cause of our dying democracy and not the fact that it's stupidly hard to vote in some areas of America (there was exactly ONE polling place per county in Ohio for the 2016 primary and general election. Also voter ID), that half of eligible Americans don't even vote (Clinton got 1/4 of voters slightly more than Trump. Yeah she's popular), or that Clinton ran one of the sh*ttiest campaigns of all time.

Clearly, it was the Russian hackers.

A financial newspaper which routinely supports and advocates the policies of economic extremists is definitely an accurate and unbiased source of information on the policies of an economic extremist.

I'd like to point out that just because the sources are right wing does not make them immediately and absolutely untrustworthy.

For the record, the quote is "this inponderable threat, this threat, will be a fact of daily life in the coming years." Context is after the brutal shooting of an officer by a member of the Islamic state.

From the NY times, if you're gonna only take info from the left.

    @Admiral_Munson
The elections were hacked by 4chan.
Glad you're quick on their draw the m8

Oh but in all seriousness I don't believe the politicalcompass's score on Macron, I find they don't always place politicians perfectly in my view.

I'd say he's centre-right, even just "right", but that's still roughly where Obama and the Clintons are and nobody calls them economic extremists.

I'm centre-left myself but I think the main problem in France as a result of the left's policies is too many worker's rights, companies are being crippled by unions and many of them are hiring less so they don't have to deal with all that stuff. It's part of why France has such high unemployment. And now Hamon wants to cut the working-week down to 32 hours and Le Pen wants to lower the retirement age even more to 60...

Until France can find left-wing candidates who aren't cucks, Macron's somewhat right wing policies are the way to go imo. Melenchon is definitely not a cuck, the dude is fking awesome and ballsy as hell, but he's just not realistic.
