Actually that's the main point that most religious use to prove against evolution. You probably got that off some debate website, because it's the only argument opposing evolution, and it is so far off it's comical. Monkeys and humans have the same ancestors, not monkeys turn into humans...

This is also a reason as to why that "fact" is invalid.

 

Yea I am too, I like to believe in self worth and happiness. I don't know how I feel about some guy who created the universe.

Scientology is not a religion of science, nor is it what he's talking about.

 

Apparently, L. Ron Hubbard created Scientology just for kicks.
It seems to just be religious capitalism. You buy your way to the top.

 

Basically, yeah.

Although, from what I know of scientology, it does teach (or at least did) some pretty useful stuff about the human psyche. I have a book from L.Ron that's a guide on how to effectively study, but it was written well before Dianetics.

It's interesting to me, however, because scientology's root words make it the study of knowledge, and a lot of L.Ron's early works before Dianetics (and even some of the stuff in it) is focused on studying and how we know that we know things.

It's just a shame it went absolutely bonkers; there was potential there for a legitimately cool field of study.
