CTF's Lack of Offensive Players

    I think everyone knows my perspective on what buffs/nerfs should happen, but also know I am an offensive player, but if you don't here it is-
    1) I believe defensive classes should be buffed and offensive classes should stay put.
    2) I don't believe there should be more nerfs.

    If you aren't buying it or saying it's just to "benefit me", even though, I primarily play offense, then let me ask you these questions-

    *PLEASE READ THEM CAREFULLY*

    1) Without switching classes and with 2 equally talented players, what ONE defensive class can guarantee no captures against ONE offensive class for an entire game on let's say a great offensive map and a great defensive map?
    2) Without switching classes and with 2 equally talented players, what ONE offensive class can guarantee at least 1 capture against ONE defensive class for an entire game on let's say a great offensive map and a great defensive map?
    3) Without switching classes and with 4 equally talented players, what TWO defensive class can guarantee no captures against TWO offensive classes for an entire game on let's say a great offensive map and a great defensive map?
    4) Without switching classes and with 4 equally talented players, what TWO offensive class can guarantee at least 1 capture against TWO defensive classes for an entire game on let's say a great offensive map and a great defensive map?
    5) If there is no classes that can defend/offend vs that, why isn't there?
    6) Wouldn't weaker defensive classes or stronger offensive classes make offense even more ridiculous to go alone, because the amount of defense required for certain offensive players?

    The point I am trying to make is there isn't much you can do alone to carry your team on defense. However, there's plenty of ways to sneak in and capture the flag without a single problem. Offense is too op. Defense needs some sort of buffs whether it be maps that work towards defense (which wouldn't work imo) or change the defense classes to buff them slightly. There's far more options for you to capture easily for a offense class rather than being able to defense solo against even 1 offensive player. There are some instances where it's possible 1 defensive class can defend against a single offensive player, but I really don't know any class, even with classes supposed to counter another, that can stop someone from playing the objective.

    Like I've previously said by making defensive classes stronger it'll make the game play much more interesting with a challenge. I know maybe most of you aren't into instakills, but I do think it's necessary for balance of the game and for the sake of making the game fun. Yeah, we could make the game balanced af, but it won't be fun. It'd be like a game of chess. If we are going towards that path, then I probably won't participate in much more CTF stuff.

    As for the idea of buffing defense, I'm on the fence. I agree that some classes do need to be improved upon to be viable in 1v1 situations, but when it comes down to it, making all classes that don't favor well in games buffed seems like balancing that will lead to eventual boredom. It's a challenge playing medic and defending. Do I die a lot? Yes. Do I enjoy playing medic as much as I do archer or assassin? No. However, is medic crucial to the team scene regardless? Yes. Giving it a buff, while helping the single class, will make offensive plays much more difficult. Eventually, I believe we will get to a point where defense will overpower offense. Then what? Do we buff offense until it's more overpowered? There will be no balance because of the number of classes we have right now. Having few classes means that anything done to one class will more drastically impact the gameplay of the others than if we had much more classes to pick from. We could try to buff the weaker classes, but ultimately (in my opinion) we will see a backlash from classes like assassin and ninja, who will die to medic before they can get to the flag to steal. Then where will we be?

    I feel like that's just the nature of the game CTF. It's not that hard to run away from someone. Buffing defensive classes wouldn't fix that. People would start to use those OP classes on offense making it even harder to defend.

    Only way to fix this is to change the actual maps. Make flagrooms much harder to get out of.

    Uh, that's kind of the point. It's too easy to run away. I believe it would increase offensive players, at least imo, because it gives a challenge. More challenge = More fun. It doesn't have to OP, it doesn't have to be instakill, those were just suggestions, if there's other options to buff defensive classes without instakill that work just as fine as the normal right now, use that class.

    I understand your perspective. However, in McPvP, there was actually a good amount of offensive players willing to play offense just as much as me (even with instakill pyro). After a while those player disappeared and not many (if any at all) newer players will consistently play offense. There's no way I could know that they left because it was boring to them or what, but there seems to be a correlation. Even early-Brawl (pre-pyro/soldier/chemist nerfs) there was a ton of people willing to offense. I talk with a lot of older defense players, offense players, and people who play both positions and I get a lot of "CTF just got old". I don't know how many people know him, but LithUchiaX left on those terms. So did Xxprogamers11xX, Starchang, and a lot of TFW players, etc. I could name a lot more if you'd like. A lot of people went to other games, too. So, they still are interested in games, but would rather not play this one. To be fair, I am losing interest, too. So, meh. I am just not going to bother with this post anymore, nagging you guys won't do anymore, I am sorry. Good luck, CTFers.

    You know why can be fairly easy to cap? Because some people understand that this is a team game and you need to work together to actually get somewhere.

    i mean if you're even moderately alright at pyro you can defend well xd

    I believe there are more defensive players because everyone knows its just a better source of credit income- or their just too lazy to walk over to the other flagroom.
