Demographics of CTF Players survey (Short)

    Basically I have been playing a good amount of CTF lately and @Krazygam sort of gave me a wake up call that my recent behavior hasen't really been appropriate lately (flame, salt, hate, etc) and I realized that this is just a block game and maybe explicit language and flaming is ok around my friends sometimes but I feel like lots of people (including me) don't realize that lots of people don't want to hear it or maybe they are young and it may be inappropriate for them (after all many younger kids play mc). I know you can do /Block to someone but I feel like the point is people shouldn't say that hardcore flame anyway. I understand cursing and getting a little angry but lots of times lines are crossed. (To anyone I have offended sorry I really don't mean what I say when I lash out and I will 110% work on my "aggressiveness" ). I realize that I need to tone it down sometimes because maybe the person i'm calling a trash mage or {Insert Expletive here} Medic is actually just a 12 year old kid who just wants to have fun on the server like the rest of us. I would never act that way to people (especially kids) in real life (Unless i'm joking around with them and know them ofc). After thinking about that I wanted to find out how old the CTF community really is along with some other facts to help people get a general understanding of a good segment of who they are playing with. (I'm sure many regulars know alot of facts about other regs but this is for everyone).

    I kind of like surveys and figured why not make one because I don't think there is one, or at least recently. I have an interest in finding out the demographics of the community and hopefully you do too or at the very least please contribute because the more people that contribute make the survey more of an accurate representation of the community. Hopefully this info can also be used in some way ^.^

    ABOUT SURVEY
    - Only 10 questions (I took this in about 30 seconds)
    - You don't have to answer a question if you don't want to (Click prefer not to answer)
    - Anonymous
    - Will share results (probably will give it a week)
    - Can only take once
    - Variety of different questions (Mainly typical demographic categories)
    - Some questions can have multiple answers
    - This is to give people a better understanding of the community they play with, and maybe give people a way to see how different all of us are as well as how what you say may offend people and you may never think it will offend someone or even know a person is offended.

    PLEASE
    - Be Honest/Accurate (this hopefully will help something in some sort of way so accuracy is key)
    - Share this with as many CTF players as possible
    - Look over the results when they come out
    - If you haven't read my above paragraph please do maybe you will relate or understand idk
    - Read all possible answers (Just in case)

    ANY CONSTRUCTIVE INPUT WILL BE APPRECIATED
    - Tips
    - Possible new questions
    - Errors/ Flaws
    - General Comments (Please keep them related to the SURVEY)

    i think the survey is a good idea, but just one thing i'd like to point out w/ this little section. although not a big deal, it is something that would be considered a flaw.

    when conducting a survey, it should be representative of the population. to somewhat define this, the people who answer the survey (the sample) should have their answers reflect the general basis of everyone (the population). the problem w/ this survey is that it only reaches to a small amount of people and isn't representative; a lot of people do not have forum accounts, don't actively use the forums, or check this section. with this survey, a large chunk of the population is being left out, so this "study" meant for the community is not actually on basis with the community. (just a side note, i know you said a "good segment" implying you are aware of this, but it's not a good segment really. also, community is a broad term.)

    however, this is a problem w/ a lot of surveys. they tend to be undercoveraged because only so many people have access to it. for example, let's say there is a phone-in survey to your congressman abt. your thoughts on a new bill. well, what if you do not have a cellphone to call in? what if you are out of the country and cannot call in b/c of the rates? what abt the people who are uninformed of governmental workings? these people are not being represented by callers, and callers are more likely to share extremely negative opinions, making it even more inaccurate. the thoughts of a caller, in this political case, could be highly sided towards one side of the political spectrum as well, which is also bad. the undercoverage is the problem w/ this survey, and your survey.

    i know this is a non-professional and harmless survey, i just felt like this is something good to know. nerded out a bit, whoops.

    note: where i said that calls are most likely to share extremely negative opinions, that may not be 100% accurate. i don't remember that for sure and i'm not sure how accurate that statement is. if someone wants to fact check that go ahead. i also don't know what the definition of "community" is here b/c its quite a broad term. i used it in this case as the entire ctf population, which can be considered a community. people can play ctf & not use the forums & still be in a community.
