Hello,

I have re-enabled the forum advertisements. We've ran these in the past and they allowed us to have a passive side income while providing nearly the same experience for the forum users. As before, the ads are provided by Google adsense so they are all non-malicious and verified. If we notice that the browsing experience suffers or if problems arise, we will disable them.

Right now, we are running 2 advertisements on the top and bottom of threads, profile pages, and forum listings.

Welcome to the second edition of the Community Newsletter! We have loads to cover today - a long awaited new gamemode, a Raid reset, events and more. That being said, let's jump right in!

War 2.0 Released!

After over 4 years of blood, sweat and tears from 5 different developers, War 2.0 has finally been released! Here's what has been changed:

Completely revamped gun mechanics.

3 new gamemodes - Demolition, Kill Confirmed and Domination. OITC has also returned!

15 new maps were added on release. Since then, 3 new maps have been added.

31 all-new guns and 7 throwables have been added to the game. They have all been tested and balanced as much as possible, and have been continued to be balanced as we receive your feedback.

13 new killstreaks - we now have a grand total of 16 killstreaks for you to unlock.

17 unique perks, many of which are completely new.

Loadouts - after choosing which guns, throwables, killstreaks and perks you want to have activated, you can save it via the /loadout GUI.

Prestige - once you hit the level cap (level 70), you can do /prestige. This resets all your XP, credits and unlocked items, and sets you to level 1 so you can work your way up again. You can do this 10 times, and once you've hit level 70 again, you can level up all you like! We've designed the system to take 2 years to reach prestige 10, so there's plenty of progression for you.

Raid Reset, Updates & Bug Fixes
Raid has recently been reset! This marks map 3 of the server, and with this came a few changes:

After huge community demand, we've brought back the old Sea Spawn!

Lag caused from certain redstone circuitry has now been fixed, so you can make almost any redstone contraption you desire.

Team caps have been increased to 10, giving you 2 new spaces for members in your teams.

Various other changes and bug fixes, including the fix of an economy-breaking shop glitch.

CTF Updates - Environmental Kills Update and Teams Update
CTF has received a small update. Before this update, if you knocked someone into the void or off a cliff and they died, you wouldn't get the kill. However, now you will! This has been asked of us for a long time now, so we hope you enjoy. You can see the full thread here.

As well as this, the October CTF Team Update has been released. Good luck to the 2 new teams: Scorch and Galvanize!

Halloween Lobby
Now that it's October, in the spirit of Halloween we have spookified the lobby!

Featuring graveyards, pumpkins, spiders and more, this lobby is sure to keep you up at night. Be sure to check it out for yourself in-game!

CTF Sing-Off
@Unifier, @Admiral_Memesn and @Xelasi are hosting the third CTF sing-off event! CTF players come together and share one thing they all have in common - they're not great singers. To participate, you choose which song you want to sing and just apply here. They even have a sick trailer:

Website Updates: New Leaderboards and Stats Page
We've revamped how the leaderboards pages look. As well as this, War 2.0 leaderboards have been added:

On top of all this, we've added a new command in-game: /stats. Do /stats, then put someone's IGN, and you'll get a link to their stats page!

Wild West Scoreboard Change
Have you ever went to tell your team the plans on how you're going to attack a rebel base, only to forget which channel your in and accidentally post it publicly? Well, we've now updated the scoreboard to show which chat channel you're speaking in. Although only a minor change, this is something quite a lot of community members asked for and it's great to see it finally added. Here's what the scoreboard looks like now:

Default Chat is White Again
A few months ago, we changed any non-donator's chat messages to appear as grey. After feedback from the community showed us the change was unpopular, we've decided to revert the change. Everyone's message is white again!

Build Contest VI: Halloween!

Hello everybody! New month, new contest. Can you guess the theme of this one? Suprisingly, it's Halloween! October has finally rolled around and we can legally go around town covered in blood scaring little children! But why do that when you can participate in this build contest!

This month's contest theme is Halloween! The holiday of spooks and scares.

What are we looking for? We're looking to be spooked. Skeletons, haunted mansions, ghosts and ghouls, and whatever your twisted imaginations can imagine. Anything can be made creepy enough, just takes some elbow grease, and a few cobwebs and blood of course.

Enter to win some ghoulish prizes! Everybody has a chance to get their claws on one of these. If you do win one, make sure to check for razer blades first.

Third place: 1 extra map and $10 to spend in the Brawl store.
Second place: 2 extra maps and $15 to spend in the Brawl store.

Hardcore Games Halloween Tournament

We are glad to announce the third edition of the Hardcore Games Halloween Tournament! This tournament will have unique features that will surely spice up your Halloween.

This event will consist of both soup and no-soup HG. The no-soup HG Halloween Tournament will be held a day before the soup tournament, so you will be able to play in both of the tournaments.

There will be special events during the game that will be different from a regular HG game. What events, you may ask. Well, that's for you to find out during the game! Don't worry, rest assured that you will experience these events, no matter where you are.

During this event, you will only be able to use Halloween themed kits, although some of them will be disabled in the no-soup tournament. The kit list is as follows:

When you update the compass, you'll pick a target. Your compass automatically shows his latest position, so there's no need to update your compass.

Keep updating the compass to go through all the alive players in the game, allowing you to pick and choose who you want to track!

Use /target to lock onto players.

Right click your redstone to get Strength 2 and Speed 1 for 2.5 seconds.

Starting items:

Tyrfing, the level up sword (you start with a wood sword)

Abilities:

Tyrfing increases in durability the more experience points and kills you get, eventually growing out to a better sword.

Starting items:

3 wolf eggs

Abilities:

Placing the egg will automatically tame the wolf. The wolves can be very useful when in 1 vs 1 combat, and often gives you that winning edge over your enemy in fights!

Killing a player will give you an additional wolf egg

Starting items:

Ocelot egg

Raw fish

Abilities:

Every time you inflict damage on someone you receive a hunger-bar boost, and they will receive the Hunger effect (same as eating zombie flesh)

You start with a raw fish and ocelot egg, use the fish as food or use the fish to tame your ocelot to scare away creepers.

Starting items:

6 Gravel

6 Stone pressure plates

Abilities:

Create a Demoman trap by placing a stone pressure plate on top of a gravel block!

When an enemy walks on a Demomans trap, they'll explode instantly!

If another Demoman trap is within the explosion radius of another Demoman trap, if one blows up, the other will too

Starting items:

A ghost tear (a renamed ghast tear)

Abilities:

Click your ghost tear to leave your body behind.

Get Speed II, Jump II and Night Vision while in ghost mode.

In ghost mode you are invisible and can fly

When you are hit in ghost mode, you will return to your body.

If your body is killed while you are in ghost mode, you will be killed.

Abilities:

When you kill a player, their items are stored in a chest.

Abilities:

Right click a mob to turn them into minions. They will follow you and attack what you attack or what attacks you.

You can pick up blocks by right clicking them, blast them away with left click into the air.

If there are more than 2 people within a 20 block radius around you, they will take more damage the longer you are around them

A book telling you how to craft poison soup

Abilities:

When a player drinks poison soup, their food level is set to 0, and they get the food poisoning effect for one minute. If a player drinks poison soup while their food level is 0, they will take between half a heart and 5 hearts of damage.

Abilities:

Hit a player and then crouch to teleport to them in the past 10 seconds.

Abilities:

Right click the feather to get 5 seconds of flight, 60 seconds cooldown after usage.

Taking fall damage immediately after the flight time wears off will result in the player taking double the fall damage

3 pain killers

Abilities:

Infect people by hitting them, which gives Weakness 1 below 5 hearts and Slowness 1 below 5 food bars.

Right click the pain killers to refill your hunger up to 7.5 bars, receive regeneration for double the amount of health you miss, and take away the negative effects

An iron hoe

Abilities:

Hit a player with the iron hoe to give them either slowness, weakness, or wither for 10 seconds.

Starting items:

none

Abilities:

You respawn after death, having 10 seconds to deal damage to a player, then 10 seconds to kill that player, if they die you steal their soul and revive, else you die.

Starting items:

An invisibility dust (sugar) which turns to Redstone dust when on cooldown

Abilities:

Right clicking the sugar makes you invisible, taking or giving damage makes you visible again

A wand of power

Abilities:

Cast a spell with your wand of power that gives a potion effect (Instant Damage 1 or 2, Poison 1 (30 seconds), Poison 2 (10 seconds), Hunger 2 (20 seconds), Weakness 2 (45 seconds), Slow 1 (45 seconds)) to everyone in a 20 block radius

Every time you kill a player, all your lost health is replenished and you get regeneration for 3 seconds

A book that records deaths (Unique)

Right clicking your book will show the last 10 deaths, containing: Time since death, Who died, Death cause, Killer and Death Location.

Using /body (player name) will lock your compass onto someone that died

Using /bet (player name) before the game starts will make you bet on someone, if they die, you get their drops.

A clock

Abilities:

Speed, Strength, Night Vision 1 at night.

Only teams of 2 will be allowed. If you are caught with a team larger than 2 players, you and your teammates will be kicked by the staff watching the game.

However, the goal of the game is to be the last man standing. If you and your teammate are the remaining two players in the game, you will have to fight for the win.

Respawning is disabled during the game. If you have the VIP rank, you will be unable to respawn in the first 4 minutes. If you have the MVP or ELITE rank, you will be unable to respawn in the first 5 minutes.

To participate, simply log on to the server 15 minutes before the game starts! The player cap will be around 85 players, it may change depending on the server performance.

Wild West Video Competition

Hello comrades and friends, cowboys and cowgirls,

Today we are here to present a chance for you to win a rank for a short time! As you may remember, in the past we have hosted 'Top 10 Kills' events, and this is similar, just exclusive to wild west.

To enter, simply record yourself getting a insane kill on wild West (the clip can not be an old one), and then proceed to upload the video to YouTube. After you have done that, submit the clip by starting a pm with me, linking the clip. You may make multiple submissions.

The competition will last untill november 30th, meaning that you have over a month to submit your clips. The clip can be a single kill or even a montage. When the time is up, we will be posting a new thread stating the results.

New News Manager
Say hello (officially) to your new host. I've been managing the news since August, but since my promotion to SMOD I've needed less help managing it fully. My team and I hope to bring you a hot and spicy news each month, and I hope you enjoy some new additions. We will be hopefully revamp/add things each month (this month I added memes) to give it a new look each month. You can post ideas below!

War 2.0 Catch-up
In case you missed it, War 2.0 was released a little over a month ago. Since its release, multiple updates have be released. Combined with new amazing killstreaks, fresh perks, and much more, this game is full of action and fun. If you haven't already, I'd suggest checking War 2.0 out. You'll be in for a ride!

You should say hi, he's quite a friendly melon!

Trivia Question
Last month's question was: How many possible gamemode and map combinations are possible on War 2.0? (At release - there are 15 maps) - Keep in mind not every map is playable with every gamemode!
The answer was 120 combinations. @sjuka_legogubbar was closest, and earned a forums trophy!

This month's question is: Who drew the Brawl artwork?
The answer will be revealed along with the winner in the next edition of The Brawl News.

Group Advertisement
War 2.0 has been going through beginning stages of Clan Wars. A server should be up this coming month that is exclusive to Clans who wish to practice and have matches. Leading the charge is GSG, a clan that is based on teamwork and organization. But, I'm not going to focus much on GSG, but on Clan Wars as a whole. I need YOU to help me out with this part.

Clan Wars can only be successful if we have a good number of active clans, led by staff, you, and whoever else thinks they can do the job. If you're familiar with the CTF Teams system, Clan Wars are modeled off that very closely. Summing it up, each Clan will have the opportunity to schedule practices, play official matches, and participate in Clan Seasons. To learn more about joining in on the fun, click here. Again, the only way this is going to work is you're help and support with this system. If we all work together, it won't be much work for individuals, but as a Clan you can schedule, practice, and get prepared for competition.

Summary: Joker wasn't always evil. Once he had been a kindhearted young man who only wanted to have fun and make friends. But when he discovers a 'Ban Note' he vows to rid Wild West of hackers. Things go well at first, but with the number of unexplained, and sometimes false, bans rising a team of staff band together to catch him. Under the direction of world renowned detective randomcitizen1, the team searches for Joker, now known by his alter ego 'Mingo', using all means necessary. Can Mingo be stopped before its too late?

Random stood and gazed at the figure before him. Dark haired and tall, the suit disguised the monster within. But not for long. The man seemed indifferent, even after all that Random had said, but he knew it was just another mask. Another layer to hide the emptiness inside. Random watched as the man's eyes flickered, only for an instant, toward the door. While his colleagues didn't see it, Random knew he was preparing to run.

He wouldn't get far if he did.

"m8s here we have Mingo, standing before us." he said, "I wasn't sure before but after what we've witnessed with Nezz I've never been more certain in my life." Random picked up his plushie of D3 and squashed it on the floor, "Well m8, how are you going to talk your way out of this one?"

Joker groaned as random's words hit him. How are you going to talk your way out of this one? He slowly staggered toward the wall, desperately attempting to maintain his composure as he took in what had just occurred. Impossibly, incredibly so, but it had happened. Random had figured it out, who he really was.

He figured it out!

Joker leaned heavily against the wall and slumped to the ground, staring into the abyss. He didn't move. His body wasn't working. His mind was a blank.

For once in his life, Joker had nothing to say.

Someone called out to him "Joker!" it was Piggy. At least, that's who it sounded like. Not that it mattered, he wasn't listening anyway. A drop of water hit the floor next to him with a loud splat against the concrete. Joker watched as another drop, and another splashed on the floor. Down, down, .... down. He had nowhere to run. Or did he?

The door was to his left, twenty feet. But he wouldn't make it. The mods would stop him before he could escape. As for Nezz... he was handcuffed. What use would he be?

No, Joker thought. There's no way out. He laughed, isn't that ? There's no way out! For once these bumbling idiots, these lousy excuses for staff, they've got me! Surrounded with mods like an animal... I - I'm going to die aren't I? I'M GOING TO DIE!

Joker whimpered and bowed his head, expecting the end. Any second now, he thought. Any second now they will ban me. They will ban...

Seconds passed in silence, only broken by the occasional splat of water from the roof. Nothing happened.

Slowly, Joker turned and glanced behind him. Random stood, flanked by Hitchens and Chickn, in the center of the room. He was calm. Sensing Joker's gaze he looked up looked at Joker and frowned slightly as if he was examining a curio. Like something he had discovered at a pawn shop. Suddenly Joker forgot his fear and and flew into a rage. Was that all he was to him? The great S-MOD? Was he just an out of control little kid? Joker sneered and slowly rose to his feet, well he was wrong. Him and all his pathetic little band of tryhards. He had done what none of them could! For nine months he had ruled Wild West. No, not ruled, but purified. And this, this, was how he was rewarded?

If I can make one guy fear me its not hard to do it to everyone right?

Joker smiled, how absurd was this? He had cleared Wild West of hackers, had united the cartels, the gangs, and had even stemmed sheriff abuses. All by his domination of the world, his understanding of human nature. They should be thanking him for it! Heh, heh, heh... and now they're gonna ban me. He thought The only one who acted, the only one who cared... Joker couldn't hold back anymore. He threw back his head and laughed,

"HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA!"

"HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA!!!"

his body shook with laughter. He couldn't stop it. The whole thing, he laughed, its so absurd. Me? A criminal? Is that so Random? I'm not a criminal. I'm not evil. I have created a perfect world. You and your lying, stinking, abusing staff ruined it!

I CREATED A PERFECT WORLD

"HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAHH..."

Joker turned and faced his brothers. The people he had recruited in his little charade. Piggy, Lavender, Famouz, and Awoo. Old friends, comrades, they'd been together for years. All this time they'd trusted him, but not now. They stared at him, blank faced and shocked, like they were seeing him for the first time. Heh, Joker chucked, in a way they were. After all, not even they had known what it was like in Mingo's world.

my world...

"What's the matter?" Joker smirked, "You look like you've seen a ghost."

Silence.

"It's true you know," he said, "I am Mingo."
