    Already have a mouse, keyboard and monitor but I need everything else. Budget is £1k ($1.4k ish). I can go slightly over if necessary but I'd rather not. I'll be using this for pretty much just gaming.

    Totaling £950 without a case.

    CPU: Latest and best Intel Core-i5 processor with high clock speeds, overclocking potential and with 6 cores even enough for lightweight video editing if necessary.
    CPU Cooler: Very basic cooler, but still by far better than an Intel stock cooler and good enough for a bit of overclocking.
    Mainboard: Basic board with all the needed connectors and good quality.
    RAM: Probably the toughest decision in this build. Currently very overpriced, so I decided to go for a 8GB single RAM stick. Should be enough for most games and can easily be upgraded if needed or the prices drop. Could also opt for 2x4GB instead.
    SSD/HDD: 500 GB SSD for operating system and software. Should be fine as long as you don't install multiple huge games and the games benefit from the increased write/read. If you want to store videos, pictures etc. you should get an additional 1 TB HDD for roughly £50.
    GPU: Graphic cards are almost as overpriced as RAM, so GTX 1060 6GB is the best you can get in this budget. Manufacturer and model don't change much, just go for the cheapest model available. (Just make sure it isn't the 3GB version)
    PSU: More than enough power for the system, good efficiency, reputable brand and semi-modular, so you do not have any unnecessary cables lying in your PC.

    Depending on what you have in your current PC @SoCool21, you might be able to save a bit of money by using your current hard drive.

    Edited a bit off rokes' suggestion. Switched the SSD, lower storage for faster speeds, it's overall much better compared to the 850. If you want you can change it back for larger storage. PSU was also changed, more of a reliable psu/based off experience. If you wanted to, you could spend a bit more money on ram and get DDR4-3000/3200.

    IMO, RAM prices are ******* mental right now and you already saved quite a bit of money from the build @Lord_Roke posted, so you'll be increasing the price a lot by upgrading to 3000/3200MHz speeds. 8gb is fine for now like @Lord_Roke said

    I also found the same cheaper RAM, except the fact that this one is by Crucial instead of Corsair: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01BIWK9OK. 8GB 2400MHz speed which is the same as the £94 Corsair RAM stick, however this is priced at £70 atm.

    hi my name is armidral_mugman and i'm hijacking this thread because college firewall doesn't let me post new ones LUL xd. Anyway my terrible laptop gets 50fps on average. do any of you lovely people know a better graphics card i can buy so i dont have to set my graphics to goddamn windows 95 quality to play?
