Build Competition IX: Architecture!

Greetings fellow builders,

As we step into the last month of summer, August, we are leaving July with the scorching heat behind now. With some of you soon finding yourselves back to school desks or perhaps others still living their summer to the full until the last day, we keep our promise and introduce you to the well expected August Build Competition!

This month's contest's theme is Architecture!

This time round, we are expecting from builders to recreate/replicate actual architecture from real life. What might this include? Popular monuments, famous towers or well-known temples dedicated to deities to name a few! The building must be an immovable object. Keep in mind that size is not our main criterion, instead we will mostly judge the creation on the detail and general look.

Prizes:
Third place: 1 extra map and $10 to spend in the Brawl store.
Second place: 2 extra maps and $15 to spend in the Brawl store.
First place: 3 extra maps and $20 to spend in the Brawl store along with the special build contest winner medal!

Connect to MinecraftBuild.com and type /create to make a map, then get building! If you've used up all your maps, feel free to ask myself or any available staff member (including Builders) and we'll give you member perms on a flat or void map. Maps we give you may be archived after the contest.

Once you’re done, head over to the Build Showcases subforum and post a thread using the application form below. Make sure to change your prefix to "Contest Entry"!

You may work in a team of up to a maximum of 3 players, including you. Prizes will be split as equally as possible between teammates. Please also keep in mind that only the builders you mentioned in your application will receive a prize if your build is part of the top 3.

• Plagiarism is not allowed; including copying other players’ builds from other worlds with WorldEdit.
• Do not build anything that would be considered inappropriate or vulgar.
• You may copy old creations that you built previously. Keep in mind that anyone who helped out with them will only receive a prize if they are mentioned in your application.
• Build specific rules and general rules still apply.
• You may enter only 1 submission for the contest.
• You may not use schematic importing. Your contest entry must be made by you (and/or your team) on MinecraftBuild.
• You may not use external programs (such as worldpainter, mcedit, etc) to give yourself (and/or your team) an advantage over others. You must build your contest entry on Minecraft Build.

Countdown

All entries must be submitted HERE before the deadline. Please see the timezone converter to find out when the deadline is for you. All entries will be judged after the deadline. Winners will be announced a few days after the deadline.

On our last Build Competition, we introduced a new judging and ranking system. Due to it being successful the past two events we are still going to use it. Check more here.

On this occasion you will be judged on the following criteria:
Detail - The attention to detail, how well the build is executed, how much effort is put in, etc. (Please do not over-detail, i.e: spamming stairs and slabs - this is not what we mean by detail).
Look - The overall look of the submission; everything flows well and builds complement each other.

Each criteria is marked from a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being the least, and 10 being the best. Each build team member will rate each criterion, and the average ratings for each criteria will be shown. The sum of average marks of each criteria will be added up to determine the rankings/winners (the more overall points, the higher the ranking).

Tiebreaker: If two (or more) builds have the same overall points, the build team members would then vote on who they believe should be first/second, etc. If a tie arises again, further discussion will take place.

Once you submit your build for the contest, your map ID and creator(s) name will be listed here. Feel free to visit other maps but make sure to leave if they ask you to do so. Report any signs of plagiarism to a staff member.
