Idea Starting New (Class-wise)

    Honestly, with this version of CTF, there's no place for people without pvp skills. Maybe winning a stalemate as a wall spamming soldier after 25 minutes on blackout would get you hyped back into the game. But really there's no incentive to play the game. There's only "I'm the best pvper here and you all suck" motive or reasoning to keep playing. Which doesn't last in the long run. It's called CAPTURE the flag for a reason. And even though I'm one of those nostalgic people who wants the old game back (which I still do and I think it would encourage newer players to stay, but might lose some regulars. With all that said, it's still possible to be better for CTF.), I, also, think it would be viable for CTF to start new (class-wise) or make a new game that includes different classes with completely different abilities from the current CTF or OG CTF. It's really not hard for ideas. The problem is actually coding new classes, which, isn't really hard in the first place compared to the other stuff you have to do to make the flag/spawns/etc working correctly. I just hope CTF doesn't stay stale, mate. haha.

    Agree totally. I'd hate to see CTF end up like HG, with gameplay revolving around PVP and kits being an afterthought.

    Previously there was a lot of class variety, and everything had a unique - and somewhat OP - aspect to it: infinite wallclimb, Pyro instakill, 414, pot PVP, insanely powerful mobs, dwarf snowball, Assassin with a usable amount of redstone and sugar... even Fashionista could craft diamond armour.

    Today, in an effort to be fair, everything involves a certain amount of PVP. And I guess the goal's been fulfilled because everything plays the ****ing same. I have most success with heavy these days, and I hate PVP - which is why you never see me on anymore.

    It's just a shame. Balance should come from classes that complement each other, not by removing everything that makes them unique.

    The more classes are nerfed, the more reliant the game becomes on pvp in an attempt to "balance" the game. It went from a game that was unique and interesting with a vibrant community, and slowly drained it away. If the idea to balance classes is to nerf them, then why even have unique abilities at all? Just be like every other server and give everyone the same class. Boom balanced perfectly. I'd like to see a few days, or weeks where they just test new interesting ideas (Preferably buffs), new classes, and collect feedback on what people think on the changes.

    I know the direct point of the thread is not class balancing, but I think it should be brought up. I know people complain about this class is still a counter to this or this class is too overpowered. Classes are supposed to counter each other, that's how the game should be balanced not by focusing more and more on pvp. TL;DR Whoever mods read this can y'all try take a week or a few days where you just try out interesting mechanics for all classes and new classes? (buffs please it's more fun that way)

    My idea to balance classes was to give it a buff and a nerf, in order to even out issues within the ctf community. I would hate to see it revolve entirely around pvp skills, instead of teamwork.

    This would help people like me who can't pvp for **** so I say yes please buff stuff to OP levels again. The reason why I enjoy maps like Blackout and Bazaar is because they're absolutely chaotic, if you do the same with not just maps but classes too then mmm yes

    Last time i thought about this it was a GOOD IDEA, and it still is.
    I like being able to find new ways to play a certain class, at the moment everything has been milked out. its so bad that i try to play archer by shooting over buildings in a curve instead of a straight line just to make it more interesting for me
    (and ofcourse because I cant get in a straight line with the carrier (insert no support meme here))
    (replace archer with a mortar class btw)
    I have the best ideas ;D

    get outsmarted by a torch hanging on the wall
    blocking an assassin as dwarf before blocking was a thing because u thought it would block damage
    got juked
    lost 17 levels and the game by just standing still thinking I was smart
    cried 3 hours straight
    place 600 spawners and hide in spawn
    use assassinate and die from flagpoison
    climbing under Lighthouse from flagroom to flagroom as soldier
    stealing flags through the wall
    Airlock iron door spawn
    no more backflipping over walls
    big building with a hat
    throwing away the boots
    poop cauldron
    hole in my door
    stone bricks
    yurt
