A good number of legit players have been autobanned over the last 3 years by the anticheat. We never really talk about this because 1) 12 hours isn't that long, or 2) the ban gets resolved almost immediately after. I believe it should still be addressed, because it still makes a mess of the player records on the website.

No anticheat system is perfect; the #1 server still struggles to manage its hackers, and i'm pretty sure they wouldn't ignore 60k players to save some time/money unless they were dying out. While the bot does occasionally auto an actual hacker, it still gets very confused on what packets to identify, resulting in these commons occurrences:
    - Hacker flying at 3x flyspeed is left alone
    - Hacker takes 0 knockback for several minutes straight and is left alone
    - Hacker is reaching 7 blocks continuously and is left alone
    - Kid freezes from lag and gets banned for flying
    - Kid with 400ms skips a few blocks and gets banned for speed
    - Kid with 400ms gets one laggy hit from 9 blocks away and gets banned for killaura

Anticheat isn't capable of detecting the right packets unless they are flooded, which really only happens if a hacker toggles 8 different things at once and goes nuts. I haven't done any research (lol), but I can guarantee at least 80% of the bot's bans are legit players getting lag spikes or odd glitches. With this being the case, I have two suggestions:
    1) Designate a group of staff members to rotate around the clock and be online to handle false autos
    2) Remove the anticheat entirely, and advocate staff activity to not only ensure faster bans, but more accurate ones.

Though this seems like a cry to casual ctf, there are multiple PPMs where i've witnessed players get false autod. There is always at least one higher-up staff member in each PPM, so it could at least be removed from the ctf_match server. Leave your thoughts above and below.

Actually, 85% of the autobans are not appealed/unbanned afterwards, meaning they were probably correct.
This is unrealistic, moderators are playing in their free time and it would be ridiculous to ask them to be online at certain times to oversee the servers. Keep in mind, there are more servers than one ctf server too
Again, it's actually a lot better than you think, for sure as you said it's not perfect and it won't be, but I think it's better to have it perform a few false bans but overall do a good job at banning hackers. Especially since we are usually quick at unbanning if you make an appeal for a false ban, this shouldn't be a problem.

With the autoban only lasting 12 hours, it's very likely people just wait it out, either by choice or because there isn't a staff member available to help. But yes, my statistic is probably exaggerated.

Also, I wouldn't recommend advertising staff "efficiency" to a guy who's been false perm banned for 2 days :/

I agree that people who are clearly cheating should be banned more often (it seems anti-cheat is missing some things), but I don't think overbanning is really a problem. I've been kicked as well but it's so easy to appeal if it's a false positive.

The anticheat might be 85% right when based on who and why it bans people, but that's only 85% of the people who have gotten caught. I bet I can safely estimate that that amount is only near 50% of the total cheaters on the network, possibly less.
