Festive CTF Events

Seasons greetings,

For the month of December, we will be finishing off the year of 2019 with some special events. 'Tis the season to be playing Capture the Flag for some exciting festivities! Check out what will be taking place for the entire month below.

Festive CTF Rotation​

It's that time of year again. Starting on December 9th, the Festive rotation will be active again on CTF servers for the month of December. Keep your eyes peeled for some new additions to this pool of maps built by members of the CTF Community.​

[Event] Special Delivery​

What's this? A brand new event. Presents have suddenly appeared around several CTF maps. They seem to be bring true holiday joy to the players bold enough to retrieve them! (Big props to developer @DeZilla for creating this brand new event)

Event Information:​

• Specially selected maps will be modified for the event
• Each map will have a single present located somewhere on the map (typically the middle)
  • Use your compass to find it
• Instead of flagrooms, each team will have a delivery point on the map that they must escort the present to
• Unlike capturing flags, there's only one present, which means teams will have to compete to complete their delivery
• Each time you successfully deliver the present to your delivery point, you will gain 1 point
• The first team to get 10 points will win the map
  • If the timer runs out, the team with the most deliveries will win
  • If the timer runs out and teams are tied, the team with the most kills will win

Date/Time:​

• The event will be taking place on Saturday, December 14th at 3:00pm EST | 8:00pm UTC | 12:00pm PST
• You can join a CTF server to play whenever you desire for the event's duration

Earning Credits:

• 25 Credits for a successful delivery
• 10 Credits for killing a person holding the present
• 5 Credits for picking up the present from its post

[Event] The Great Medic Race: Through the Snow​

Some of you may remember this event from several occasions in the past. For those who are new, get ready for a wild webbing experience!

Event Information:

• All players will be set to the Medic class and given Resistance V (unkillable)
• Everyone will be teleported to the designated starting point of the race
• Once the race begins, players will have to traverse the map and loop through the opposite flagroom (the midpoint of the race), then scurry on back to the starting line to complete the race
• Webbing other players is allowed; slowing down your competition is encouraged
• Cross the finish line in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place to receive special prizes
• More information regarding the selected maps will be available soon; 3 will be played

Date/Time:

• The event will be taking place on Sunday, December 22nd at 3:30pm EST | 8:30pm UTC | 12:30pm PST
• Log onto the designated CTF server to play (watch your in-game chat to see a broadcast showing which server it will be happening on)

Prizes:

• 1st Place: 1 Month of Global MVP
  
• 2nd Place: Limited Christmas Tag of player's choice
• 3rd place: Limited Christmas Tag of player's choice

Final Scout Price Drop​

At long last, Scout's price will be reduced to be equivalent to all other classes. If you've been waiting for a while to purchase this class, now is the time to do it! Scout will drop to normal price (10,000 credits) on December 25th (Christmas Day).

[Event] Spotlight Saturday #10​

The 10th edition of Spotlight Saturday will arrive on the final Saturday of December. Although it technically isn't a seasonal event, this event is certainly something to celebrate. It will be the final edition of Spotlight Saturday for a while. All CTF Map Submissions made before December 26th that are properly configured will be played (the regulated limit of 6 maps will be lifted for this SS). If you are unsure that your map is eligible for gameplay, please contact a staff member. A thread specifically for the event with a list of maps will be created closer to the date.

Date/Time:

• The event will be taking place on Saturday, December 28th at 3:00pm EST | 8:00pm UTC | 12:00pm PST
• You can join a CTF server to play whenever you desire for the event's duration
  • However, it is recommended to be there the whole event if you wish to play on all maps being tested

Updates to Our Events

• The Great Medic Race: Through the Snow has been postponed to 3:30pm EST | 8:30pm UTC; it will still be taking place on the 22nd
• The upcoming Spotlight Saturday will no longer be the final edition before the next Map Wave, due to Wave XVI's submission deadline being extended to February 1st
  • We will still be running all submissions we get by the 26th
• Small fixes to the Festive Rotation have been made (specifically, Festive Lowrise is no longer broken)
