The new year is approaching rapidly - just 29 days to go before we enter what will eventually be CTF's 10th year in the making. I only joined CTF a year before the MCPVP migration, but these 6 years have given me countless opportunities and experiences that I'll cherish while I can (eEeeE cringe he's talking about Minecraft memories!1!!11!). While this is all a game at the end of the day, all of us can easily recognize that the community surrounding it has driven it leaps and bounds beyond just being a game. The history and lore of MCPVP & Brawl's CTF is fascinating and always growing, which leads me to the main point of this thread.

If anyone viewing this has screenshots, pictures, stories, or anything else relating to nostalgic times in CTF's past, feel free to post them here. Well-known or untold, controversial or wholesome - if it happened on CTF, it undoubtedly will catch someone's eye.

Our CTF is one of the oldest surviving servers out there; Hard to imagine, I know, but it's true. It first launched all the way back in September of 2011... Minecraft as a whole hadn't even fully released at that point. This server has quite literally seen the entire lifespan of the game it belongs to, which is just crazy to me. Of course, very very few people are still around today that were there from the absolute beginning, but what's more important is that CTF has managed to stay alive & dynamic from then to now, which is impressive in its own right. Much more history is to come, and what better way to celebrate it than to compile what we've seen so far?

very VERY mixed feelings (part 2 coming soon HAHA jk... unless?...) 2020-01-29_23.15.34.png

I started playing minecraft in the summer of 2014, right before the update to 1.8 iirc. I was also very new to the internet in general, so my first few interactions with multiplayer were a bit questionable to say the least. MCPVP was probably the most notably of these first interactions, and for a fairly cringe yet crucial reason that could have separated me from CTF forever.

Being brand new to the game, as well as a very sheltered kid at the time, I struggled quite a bit in my first weeks on CTF. I don't remember the specifics, but evidently it was bad enough that I ended up seeking out a solution with consequences that could have been permanent: Hacks. I think Wurst was the star child of clients back then, so I literally googled the download, hopped onto CTF to start absolutely rekting kids, and got banned like 10 minutes later lol. It was a permanent ban, so I kind of forgot about CTF for the good part of a year while I adventured elsewhere. In 2015, I appealed my perm ban, and began my road all the way up to here; Ironically it was because I had just been banned on another server for the same hacks, and I remembered that one CTF server from a while ago and decided to give it a go. Obviously, I've been legit since then, but it just goes to show how something so easily attainable caused a massive mistake. I think I still would have appealed at some point if I hadn't then, but I feel that the history would be very different if that were the case.

Moral of the story: hacks are cringe
