Idea Idea for a better ctf endgame

    Okay after asking around in private and getting some opinions/ideas to work with. I decided to post it and host a public forum to see what people think. As of now there are 2 victory conditions for ctf, Win by caps-Win by kills. I have always thought that win by kills was a very unsatisfying way to end the game. I thought a better way to end the game would be to end it in a sudden death match. Now I imagine alot of people would consider it a glorified killwh***** session. However
    while sure killing would be a central part of it. I thought it would be a more satisfying end to a casual ctf match. The way it would work has I currently have it drafted is: In the event the game ends in a tie. We are all force respawned and have a set time to pick our choice classes we want. All players get one life. First to cap or eliminate all enemy players on a team would end the game.

    Some ideas I gathered to help balance it out are.
    1: Setting a timer to prevent stalling/hiding
    2: Ending the game based off which team has been holding the enemy flag the longest at the current point.
    3: Setting a limit on specific classes (Not entirely sure how this would be implemented in casual)
    4: Force respawning all people and giving a 10 second timer to give everyone a chance to pick their choice classes (class changing mid SD not allowed)

    In my own opinion I feel like this would be a better way to end the game. Rather then the game being determined by who was killing more. The players can somewhat control the outcome of the game in the final stage. I am curious to know what other ideas we can drum up to make it better. or if you believe it is not worth the effort please tell me why. What do you y,all think?

    This actually sounds nice

    About your points:
    • 1: 3-5 minutes for the game to keep running would be alright; It could even vary for the map's normal duration (Shorter for 20min, longer for 30min), though I'm not sure how difficult that would be to code.
    • 2: While that could be one outcome, I think it should also be the first team that captures that automatically ends it (caps are considered as (x-1)/x for both teams).
    • 3: This is where the problem pops up. If there is an option of a victory by just a flat our TDM, the Archer/Ninja/Assassin spam would be catastrophic. I'm very much against the TDM victory system.
    • 4: I think 30 seconds would be more optimal, seeing as that's what you get before a normal match.

    To respond to point two. That is only in the case that a capture is not made. Consider it a fall back option incase a stalemate occurs or no one tries to attempt a cap and goes for a victory by elimination

    If this were to happen, we would need to ban assassin from deathmatch, that would be way to overpowered.

    I think this would just become a TDM because in large casual games, trying to cap the flag when you can't respawn would be suicidal. CTF shouldn't become more PvP-based IMO.

    I do like the idea of having a different endgame, though.
