Hey there I only started playing recently, and I wanted to give an idea. One thing that was hard for me at first was understand the classes, it was not as easy to find where the info about the game and the classes are, as you have to do /help and then —> ctf wiki which is not as easy to find as it may seem.

I can tell this goes for a lot of players that seem a bit clueless when I was playing.

So I would recommend having something like a tutorial or a link to the ctf wiki when it’s your first time playing. (Or until you turn it off to receive tutorials)

this menu kinda forces (not allowing you to move for example) you to either accept the tutorial and follow the link to the ctf wiki, or you can choose to skip it, in-case you already know ctf but are on a different account.

I think this could help new players better understand the aspects of the game mode.

    thanks for reading
    Happy holidays and stay safe!

I completely agree, the game is not friendly to beginners at all. I hope you stick around!

There's a whole competitive side to the game if you become pretty good at it, and it's fun to watch as well

Words that have been true for far too long.

I get that we've had a tournament and the introduction of Season 1 in the past months, but something needs to come out soon. The team scene is stagnated by relative roster locking to some degree, but the major factor is that they've been dying off without successors. Ad Fundum, Spicy Banana, The Royals - All disbanded in under a year, with Fotia and Team Fallen being the only surviving newbies in the time since then. An obvious explanation is that people are getting older and moving away, but the point people fail to see is that the replacements are never going to come in fast enough with the current environment of casual. If the trend continues this way, you can see why I'm concerned - We're going to start running out of options real quick. For anyone reading this that hasn't seen Team Fallen's thread, I made this team specifically to counteract the decay; We hold the most "new" players by a landslide. Even if they only stay around just to get a grip on comp, my goal is to get as many new players as I can in this team so that they can experience some form of normalcy... which all the other teams don't seem to be too keen on. Why? Because reeling in new players almost always sets you back - and no team in their right mind would intentionally lower their competitive strength unless they had to. It keeps things balanced, but slowly people fade away from Minecraft and leave holes that can only be refilled instantly so many times. Some of the most known teams on this server are rapidly approaching that void with time, and at the moment it's silly to try and believe we'll have 100 replacements for those people with the current conditions of casual. Yes, it's possible that the decay will be slow enough where the experience can be gained and lost mutually, but that's a risk this server can't survive failing from.

Yea it takes time to get used to the game but I like it a lot so far there is a lot of original and cool features so I'll probably play a lot more but I'm also eager to try out the other game modes.

We already have a little tutorial thing for pyro that triggers when you select the class. I think we should probably get one for every class. Some classes might require a little more detailed explanation (mage, pyro, necro) than some of the simpler classes (heavy, archer, soldier), but every class should at least get a small explanation of mechanics and some tips to help you play that class. Something like "You use invisibility more efficiently if you sneak" for ninja, or "Use your wall climbing to escape immediate danger" for soldier.

On top of that, we should probably have a better system for playing classes for free. Fridays are nice and all, but immediate player retention can't rely on new players only deciding to try CTF on a Friday. I think that in addition to making every class free one day a week, we should give new players something like 2-3 games' worth of free time on every premium class. If new players are going to say "What the heck, I don't understand how I died to pyro," it would help immensely if they could play it to see how it works.

Very good ideas. perhaps like you said add a "trial mode" on every class that you can activate once per account for, like you said, 2 or 3 games.
